Ormonde Jayne White Gold ~ fragrance review

Posted by Angela on 11 December 2018 32 Comments

Say $425 dropped into your lap, and you had to spend it on perfume. What would you buy? If you want to smell like a sharply cut ice-white diamond splashing rainbows of light, you might want to consider Ormonde Jayne White Gold Extrait.

Perfumer Geza Schoen developed White Gold, and it’s the third in Ormonde Jayne’s Gold trilogy…

Imaginary Authors Whispered Myths ~ fragrance review

Posted by Jessica on 28 November 2018 8 Comments

When the long hours Azzam Issa pulls at his family’s bakery begin to interfere with his day-job as a security guard at The Louvre things turn bizarre. Angelic creatures move from one painting to the next and statues speak to him in cryptic whispers…

Thus begins the description of the imaginary book that “inspired” this fragrance — a novel by imaginary author Farzan Al Essa that sounds like a captivating work of magical realism. Imaginary Authors Sundrunk & Masque Milano Luci ed Ombre ~ fragrance review

Posted by Angela on 27 November 2018 8 Comments

Day and night. Beachy sun and evening fog. Sunshine pop and a cello concerto. This is how I think of Imaginary Authors Sundrunk next to Masque Milano Luci ed Ombre. Both brands deliver stories with their fragrances, and, no surprise, they’re stark complements…

Jovoy Remember Me ~ fragrance review

Posted by Angela on 12 November 2018 24 Comments

A few weeks ago, I ambled down to Fumerie to see what’s new. Tracy pulled a tester of Jovoy Remember Me from the shelf behind her and said, “Have you smelled this one?” I hadn’t. “I barely finish spraying it on a strip,” she told me, “And customers say, ‘I’ll take it’.”

What kind of fragrance reels someone in so quickly and surely? I had to try it. She sent me home with a sample…

Editions M.R. Acide & C. O. Bigelow Lemon Body Lotion ~ fragrance & body product review

Posted by Jessica on 8 November 2018 8 Comments

In my last review I paired a neroli fragrance and body lotion. This week, I’m turning my attention to lemon, that commonplace citrus whose scent has become (unfairly!) linked with household cleaning products. I recently purchased some organic lemon essential oil to use in a class and once I’d opened it, I couldn’t stop sniffing it. So bright, so radiant, so satisfying! Here, then, are two very different products with lemon-centered scents that have entered my current rotation.

Acide is a contemporary interpretation of a classic Eau de Cologne, developed by perfumer Will Inrig for French menswear brand Éditions M.R…
