orchid-thirds

The splitmeet (episode 11) is open for business. PLEASE read the instructions! For people who would like to chat in addition to, or instead of, splitting, there will be a poll along shortly.

Don’t know what a bottle split is, or you know but you’ve never tried it? See here.

Please note that the intention of the splitmeet is to split newly purchased bottles of perfume, not to sell decants of fragrances already in your collection…

Les Parfums de Rosine Vanille Paradoxe ~ fragrance review

Posted by Jessica on 14 February 2019 19 Comments

You might have noticed the annual onslaught of rose-themed articles and posts in your social media feeds in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day. Well, I wear rose perfumes all year ’round, and I’m a bit of a cynic where Valentine’s Day is concerned, so this post is really business-as-usual for me! Les Parfums de Rosine was one of the first niche fragrance lines that I “studied” in the early 2000s and I still enjoy wearing my longtime Rosine favorites and exploring the house’s recent releases.

Cartier Declaration Parfum ~ fragrance review

Posted by Kevin on 13 February 2019 7 Comments

Check out (wear sunglasses) warm-weather party shirts at Robert Graham; the shirts have all the hallmarks of summery party tops: chest-showcasing fabrics (part cotton/part polyester), bold patterns (!flowers!, graffiti) and contrasting fabrics on upturned cuffs and collars.

Cartier’s new Déclaration Parfum is the fragrance equivalent of a party shirt…

Pont des Arts A Ce Soir & A Chaque Instant ~ fragrance reviews

Posted by Angela on 4 February 2019 32 Comments

There’s new perfume house in town: Pont des Arts. Some of you might be groaning, and I don’t blame you. It’s hard enough to keep up with promising releases from houses we already know and love. Stop it with the new brands already!

That said, Pont des Arts bears watching. Its first offering is a manageable three fragrances including an oriental, a floral chypre and a fresh woody citrus. Even more intriguing, perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour developed the oriental, À Ce Soir, and the floral chypre, À Chaque Instant…

Memo Tiger’s Nest ~ fragrance review

Posted by Jessica on 1 February 2019 18 Comments

Have you ever bought a perfume just for the name or the bottle? I’ve made a few purchases inspired primarily by beautiful packaging, even when I wasn’t crazy about the fragrance inside — L de Lolita de Lempicka and Bond no. 9 Union Square come to mind — although I’ve managed to avoid that temptation in recent years. However, when I saw the visuals for Memo Tiger’s Nest last spring, I smiled and sighed…
