Meanwhile, in Sagittarius B2, a giant molecular cloud of gas and dust close to centre of our galaxy, you might smell "some of the prebiotic molecules that are necessary for life", says [scientist Marina] Barcenilla. "There we have things like ethanol, methanol, acetone, hydrogen sulphide and ethylene glycol – which you can use as antifreeze."
