OVR Technology is already being utilized in therapeutic settings. Ascendant New York, a $3,500-a-day substance disorder clinic, offers patients guided meditations via Inhale Wellness, OVR’s mindfulness platform released in November 2021, which beams users into a nature setting and emits 0.1-millisecond bursts of scent in relation to their VR interactions.

It turns, whirls, releases odors

Guests sit down in what looks like a half-open egg-shaped lounge chair. Once inside, guests put on the VR headsets, and as they watch the virtual reality movie, the pod moves — it turns, whirls, releases odors and provides other haptic feedback.

The smell of wet stone after the rain

I was born in the South of France but I grew up, and still live, in Paris. So many of my first memories relate to the smell of wet stone after the rain. As a child, my parents would take me to the Parc de Bagatelle, at the heart of the Bois de Boulogne (one of Paris’s four botanical gardens, created in 1775), or to the Jardin du Luxembourg on the weekends. The latter is particularly great for kids as there is a lake where you can float toy boats.
