While, yes, guests of the hotel can enjoy the top-tier accommodations, cuisine, afternoon tea, and more, it was the one-of-a-kind Scent Butler service that caught my attention. As a scent aficionado with more than 30 perfumes in my bathroom cabinet, diving deeper into the world of fragrance seemed like a worthwhile way to spend my time.

Male bees display a remarkable passion for collecting scents: they deposit scents from various sources in special pockets on their hind legs, thus composing their own fragrance. This behavior has been known since the 1960s. The reason why they do it has been the subject of much speculation.

Researchers from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, in collaboration with colleagues from the University of California at Davis and the University of Florida at Fort Lauderdale, have finally solved the mystery. The bee fragrance serves as a sex attractant and increases the reproductive success of the males...

A whiff of strawberry sweetness hits you as soon as you walk into “The Pink Bedroom,” an exhibit at the Museum of Sex in New York. The installation is a jumble of shocking pink objects (stuffed animals, makeup compacts, music boxes, shoes and sex toys) arranged around a bed made with pink sheets and pillows. But it also features a mishmash of smells: rose, baby powder and … is that cat pee?
