Stings, stabs, stinks or sticks

Posted by Robin on 6 June 2023 Leave a Comment

“It has been said, and truly, that everything in the desert either stings, stabs, stinks or sticks,” wrote the author and environmentalist Edward Abbey, who spent much of his life exploring the high deserts of New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. “You will find the flora here as venomous, hooked, barbed, thorny, prickly, needled, saw-toothed, hairy, stickered, mean, bitter, sharp, wiry and fierce as the animals.” Still — unsavory inhabitants notwithstanding — the arid, sandy swaths of the American Southwest have attracted generations of artists, mystics, hippies and cowboys. And now perfumers are following their lead, attempting to translate the desert’s resilient plants and otherworldly aura into fragrance.

My first inspiration was art

Posted by Robin on 5 June 2023 Leave a Comment

My first inspiration was art. I did a lot of research on how painters, sculptors, artists have illustrated the sun in their works. For many centuries, this star has fascinated human beings. It began in the civilization of Ancient Egypt, in the Middle Ages, the sun was painted in gold on religious books and paintings. Louis XIV, also known as “Le Roi Soleil” [the Sun King], used the sun as his ornament like the Incas some centuries earlier. In 1872, Claude Monet created the magnificent painting “Soleil Levant” which inspired Vicky Colombet with her interpretation of “Rising Sun” in 2020. Funny enough, when I was creating Solaris, an exhibition, “Face au Soleil”, took place in Paris at the museum Marmottan. It gave me a lot of inspiration.

Jay-Z is not responsible for any wrongdoing

A New York state appeals court sided with the rapper in his protracted legal battle against Parlux over a cologne endorsement, Billboard reported. In a ruling issued on Thursday, a five-judge panel agreed with a prior 2021 jury verdict that Jay-Z is not responsible for any wrongdoing in the deal and thus didn’t owe the company potentially $67 million in damages. The judges also agreed that Jay-Z was actually the one who was owed money, which amounts to almost $7 million in unpaid royalties.
