Rose-scented micro-capsules

The garments, called Otoko Kaoru, have special rose-scented micro-capsules in the collar which, when they come in contact with the skin, release a (presumably manly) fragrance. That way, the wearer smells, well, like something, all day long.

Briny scent of the seaside

The researchers said it would release a candy floss smell when the image shows a fairground and can even emit the briny scent of the seaside when people look at their holiday photos.

Difficult smells

And what an issue it’s turned out to be – mono.kultur #23 contains no visual imagery but clears the page for our most primary sense: the magazine will be impregnated with 12 scents curated by Sissel Tolaas. And we’re not talking about perfumes either, but what Tolaas would coin ‘difficult smells’. With a special technique called microencapsulation, the scents are literally printed into the magazine – you rub the paper to release them…

Scented eyeglasses

French eyewear brand Les Opticiens ATOL have launched a collection in collaboration with Adriana Karembeu, AK Senteurs, with scented eyeglass arms. There are four fragrances: Coquette (red, with floral notes), Ile aux baisers (mango and citrus), Chocolat (a chocolate gourmand) and Adriana (pink, spicy and sweet). (via cosmeticsinternational)

Smelly substances are released

Cyclists often replace their helmets unnecessarily after dropping them on the ground, because they cannot tell whether they are damaged or not. The capsules eliminate this problem. If cracks form, smelly substances are released," explains Dr.-Ing. Christof Koplin, research scientist at the IWM.
