Tuesday scent of the day 4/22

Posted by Robin on 22 April 2025 108 Comments

It’s Tuesday and Earth Day (the 2025 theme: Our Power, Our Planet). RIP Pope Francis. What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m in Prosody London Lissom Linden. Tea at the moment is Tali’s Masala Chai from Art of Tea.

Reminder: on 4/25, wear a lilac fragrance, if you have one…

Friday scent of the day 4/18

Posted by Robin on 18 April 2025 121 Comments

Happy Friday and happy World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites. Our community project for today: Pick a place you’ve visited, or would like to visit, that has “intangible cultural heritage”, tell us about it, and wear a fragrance you think fits for whatever reason.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with Archaeological Sites of the Island of Meroe (“the heartland of the Kingdom of Kush, a major power in the ancient world from the 8th century BCE to the 4th century CE.”), in present day Sudan, and I thought right away of Tauer Perfumes Au Coeur du Désert but it’s going to be pretty warm here today, so I switched to Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate…

Thursday scent of the day 4/17

Happy Almost-Friday! It’s also International Bat Appreciation Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

Today, I’m doing the Incense Route – Desert Cities in the Negev:

The four Nabatean towns of Haluza, Mamshit, Avdat and Shivta, along with associated fortresses and agricultural landscapes in the Negev Desert, are spread along routes linking them to the Mediterranean end of the incense and spice route. Together they reflect the hugely profitable trade in frankincense and myrrh from south Arabia to the Mediterranean, which flourished from the 3rd century BC until the 2nd century AD.

My fragrance has incense, but it was made in Italy and inspired by an Indian princess, and it most probably was developed by a French perfumer, so it fits in nicely with the theme of world trade. Plus, I smell great and my bottle is suitably ancient: Etro Shaal Nur.

Reminder: 4/18 is the World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites…

For the UNESCO heritage site Cathedral, Alcázar and Archivo de Indias in Seville, of course I’m in L’Artisan Parfumeur Séville à l’Aube.

Reminder: 4/18 is the World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites…

Tuesday scent of the day 4/15

Posted by Robin on 15 April 2025 164 Comments

It’s Tuesday and World Art Day, National Anime Day, the Universal Day of Culture, plus Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday. If you’re in the US, it’s also Tax Day. RIP Mario Vargas Llosa. What fragrance are you wearing?

For the UNESCO heritage site Cultural Landscape of Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er, I went with its location in Yunnan, and then of course I went to Hermès Osmanthe Yunnan. I got closer with my tea, The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co Cascadia Breakfast, since it does have some pu’er tea.

Reminder: 4/18 is the World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites…
