Tuesday scent of the day 4/6

Posted by Robin on 6 April 2021 194 Comments

It’s Tuesday, plus New Beer’s Eve and Tartan Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

Once I wake up a bit more, my plan is vintage Jicky, which I’m pretty sure boasts the earliest launch date (1889!) in my collection.

Reminder: 4/9 will be Antiquities Friday…

Monday scent of the day 4/5

It’s Monday and Caramel Day, plus Star Trek: First Contact Day. Birthdays: Booker T. Washington, Bette Davis. What fragrance are you wearing?

I am waking up extra slowly today. At the moment I’m in a little spritz of Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré.

Friday scent of the day 4/2

Happy International Children’s Book Day (aka Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday)! Our community project for today: name a favorite children’s book and wear a fragrance to match.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Today I went with a children’s book I did not read until I was an adult: The Golden Compass (the title is Northern Lights in some markets) by Philip Pullman. To capture the Frozen North, I’m wearing The Different Company De Bachmakov…

Thursday scent of the day 4/1

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and happy April Fools Day. (No kidding — Donatella will be stopping by shortly!) What fragrance are you wearing?

Like yesterday’s One was Johnny, Goodnight Moon (Margaret Wise Brown, illustrations by Clement Hurd) is a book that was read to me as a child, and that I went on to read to my own son. It doesn’t really fit the image, but for going to bed feeling safe and calm, nothing beats Diptyque Tam Dao. (Works nicely for the wet spring morning we’re having, too.)

Reminder: 4/2 is International Children’s Book Day…

Wednesday scent of the day 3/31

Posted by Robin on 31 March 2021 203 Comments

It’s Hump Day and the last day of March. (PSA: we’ll be receiving a visit from Donatella tomorrow, plus don’t forget to rabbit!) What fragrance are you wearing?

I loved the 4 books — Chicken Soup with Rice, Pierre, One was Johnny, Alligators All Around — in Maurice Sendak’s Nutshell Library when I was a child, and I loved reading the books to my child. I did not know about the Really Rosie musical, based on the books with music by Carole King, until I was an adult, but I played it for my son until long after he aged out of it and asked me to please stop.

What perfume would fit the simple counting book One was Johnny? Well, 7 is a blackbird that pecked poor Johnny’s nose, and there is a banana in the book as well, so I’m smelling delicious in Blackbird Y06-S. Lame, I know.

Reminder: 4/2 is International Children’s Book Day…
