Ages ago Angie recommended that I try the Commissaire Adamsberg series by French writer Fred Vargas, and I adored all nine of the books that have been translated into English so far. I am not scenting Adamsberg or any of his team, instead, I’m wearing Parfum d’Empire Corsica Furiosa in honor of the author’s focus on the regional food and culture of France.

Happy Almost-Friday and happy World Emoji Day! It’s also the World Day for International Justice and David Hasselhoff’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?

Yesterday my plan was to head north to spend a few days at a lake in Massachusetts; instead, a minor family emergency (all settled now!) derailed me just as I started to get my suitcase in the car. Today, I’m trying again. With any luck, I’ll be off the internet most of the day and happily ensconced by the lake before nightfall. Once again, I’m wearing my own cheap and cheerful DIY lotion with ylang and sweet orange.
