Friday scent of the day 5/27

Posted by Robin on 27 May 2022 234 Comments

Happy Memorial Day weekend! On Monday, we’ll observe proper Memorial Day, but for today, we’re celebrating the holiday’s other meaning, as the unofficial first weekend of summer. (In olden times, you could only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) Our community project for today: wear something that fits your plans for Summer 2022! (If it’s winter where you are, adjust accordingly.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Part 5 of my summer plans: gadabout generally, as much as is possible. So appropriately enough, it’s a travel day for me — we’re taking a long weekend trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. (Quite possibly, I will fall behind on comments but I’ll catch up on Tuesday.) I’m in a bit of Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil Perfumed Body Lotion. A summer of gadding about in Un Jardin Sur Le Nil would be just fine with me. Update: yes, I’m in the body lotion but our flight just got canceled. So I’ll be spending today trying to reschedule our trip…

Thursday scent of the day 5/26

Happy Almost-Friday! It’s also National Paper Airplane Day and Miles Davis’ birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?

Part 4 of my summer plans: get to the beach, lay on the sand, walk the boardwalk, eat ice cream. I’m in Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess.

Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US…

Wednesday scent of the day 5/25

Posted by Robin on 25 May 2022 100 Comments

It’s Hump Day, Towel Day (for interstellar hitchhikers) and Geek Pride Day. Literary birthdays: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Raymond Carver, W. P. Kinsella, Jamaica Kincaid. What fragrance are you wearing?

So part 1 of my summer plan was biking, and part 2, in case it wasn’t clear, was listening to lots of Bob Dylan. Part 3 is getting up to my sister’s lake house, and then getting out on the lake on a paddle board and/or kayak. (I have posted pictures of kayaks and paddle boards here before, probably more than once.) The perfect scent for paddle boarding at the lake is Cutter Lemon Eucalyptus, but today I’m in the even nicer smelling Carthusia Mediterraneo.

Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US…

Tuesday scent of the day 5/24

It’s Tuesday, and Bob Dylan is 81. It’s also International Tiara Day aka Queen Victoria’s birthday. And, PSA, the splitmeet is still going! What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m in Hermès Le Jardin de Monsieur Li for what will probably be a rainy spring day. Tea at the moment is Meleng Estate Assam from Upton with a little milk and nutmeg. (I’m sure that’s what was in Bob’s cup too.)

Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US…

Monday scent of the day 5/23

Posted by Robin on 23 May 2022 222 Comments

It’s Monday and World Turtle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

My plans for Summer 2022 include lots of biking, preferably alongside water (luckily, we have a number of great places near me), if only the weather will cooperate. The best fragrance for biking in summer is probably none, but I’m in Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers just for the “summer outdoors” feeling.

Reminder: 5/27 is the start of Memorial Day weekend in the US…
