Friday scent of the day 6/17

It’s William Shakespeare Friday! (Also, the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that matches a favorite line from a Shakespeare sonnet or play, or do something else creative with the theme. Thanks go to allo for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers for the scene in Much Ado About Nothing in which Beatrice says that Count Claudio is “…is neither sad, nor sick, nor merry, nor well; but civil // count, civil as an orange, and something of that jealous complexion” (the pun refers to the bitter Seville orange)…

It’s Hump Day, plus Beer Day Britain and Global Wind Day. Birthdays: Erroll Garner, Waylon Jennings, Harry Nilsson. What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m in Christian Lacroix Tumulte Homme for the character Caddy in William Faulker’s The Sound and The Fury. The title of the novel comes from the Macbeth soliloquy,* and Caddy is said to “smell like trees”.

It’s Tuesday, plus National Bourbon Day, Flag Day and World Blood Donor Day. Birthdays: Harriet Beecher Stowe, Alois Alzheimer, Jerzy Kosiński, Laurie Colwin, Boy George. RIP Philip Baker Hall aka Mr. Bookman. Watch for the strawberry supermoon tonight! What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m tying the aromatic herbs in Eau de Guerlain to the medicinal plants grown by Shakespeare’s wife, Anne Hathaway, in the novel Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell.
