Coming next year from Kenzo: a new women's fragrance, as yet unnamed, and a new summer limited edition of L'Eau Par Kenzo, Love L'Eau.
Scented billboards? Azzaro is advertising Silver Black in Paris airports using "advertising stations" that "will diffuse the Silver Black scent to a radius of five meters around each station located in proximity to perfumery outlets in the terminals." (both above via cosmeticnews)
The next fragrance from Serge Lutens to join the export range might be named Gris Clair. Thanks to J for passing on the (completely unsubstantiated) rumor!
A new phone from Hyundai for the Chinese market emits the fragrance of your choice when you open the clamshell. The cost? $1200. (via I4U news) A cheaper option: Lenovo's Perfume Phone, which works by "heating a small chamber filled with a few drops of a favorite fragrance, infusing your wrist (or purse or pocket) whenever the phone is turned on." It's a bargain at around $200, but again, only in China. (via Fortune link no longer working, sorry)

Rahät Loukoum was launched by Serge Lutens in 1998. The fragrance was inspired by the thick jellied candy that is popular as lokum in the Middle East, and known in the Western world as Turkish Delight (for a brief history, see the Turkish Delight entry in Wikipedia). It was created by nose Christopher Sheldrake, and the notes include fresh white almond, crushed cherry pits, hawthorn, heliotrope, Turkish rose, balsam, tonka bean, aldehydes, white honey, musk and vanilla.
Rahät Loukoum opens with tart cherry and a big dose of alcohol. As has often been noted, it smells pretty much like cherry cough syrup. The almond notes intensify over the next few minutes; the notes indicate “fresh” almonds, but to my nose they have the almost smoky scent of just-toasted almond slivers…

After yesterday’s discussion of Cèdre, I thought I would revisit Miel de Bois, yet another Serge Lutens fragrance that I initially disliked but slowly came to appreciate. It was released earlier this year; the nose, as always, was Christopher Sheldrake, and the fragrance notes are ebony, gaiac and oak wood, aquilaria aguillocha, honey, beeswax, iris and hawthorn.
Miel de Bois is an unusual fragrance, and to be honest, I recoiled in dismay the first time I smelled it. It starts with heavy, very dry woods overlaid with raw honey. If that sounds lovely, well, think again…
