We like to use the word ‘fresh’

Posted by Robin on 7 June 2024 2 Comments

A handful of roses ~ fragrance reviews

Posted by Jessica on 1 June 2023 18 Comments

It might just be my imagination, and a feeling of tentative hope that my city has come through the worst of the pandemic, but the roses in my neighbors’ front yards and the local parks seem lusher than ever this year. Posted by Robin on 10 February 2023 245 Comments

It’s Friday, National Umbrella Day and World Pulses Day. Birthdays: Boris Pasternak, Chick Webb, E. L. Konigsburg. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with rose, if you have one. (This is a repeat from 2016).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

We should do a rose month — there are so many I meant to wear but did not get to! But I ended up in Diptyque L’Ombre dans L’Eau…

A little renegade

Posted by Robin on 7 February 2023 4 Comments

“In the past, the rose was seen as ultra-feminine and glamorous, almost one-dimensional, agrees Firmenich perfumer Pierre Negrin (the nose behind Tory Burch Essence of Dreams Sublime Rose). [Matthew] Herman adds that by remixing something so overtly associated with bygone eras, we can catapult it into the future. “Rose now feels a little renegade,” says Herman, referring to the flower’s new lease of life thanks to the saltier, woodier, fruiter notes which encompass it.
