Jean-Charles Brosseau Thé Brun

Jean-Charles Brosseau, milliner and creator of 1981’s still popular Ombre Rose, has recently released a trio of men’s fragrances: Thé Brun, Atlas Cedar and Fruit de Bois. Of the three, the one I was most anticipating is Thé Brun or Brown Tea, created with perfumer Pierre Bourdon. Thé Brun has notes of bergamot, fruity notes, green leaves, lavender, violet, spices, cumin, jasmine, orange blossom, lapsang tea, palisander wood, powdery notes and musk.

As a huge fan of tea fragrances, it was with great excitement that I tested Thé Brun, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed…

Bergamotto Marino by Gianfranco Ferre

Bergamotto Marino is a new unisex fragrance from the house of Gianfranco Ferré, intended for use as guest cosmetics by luxury hotels and for purchase by discerning customers. This Pierre Bourdon creation, housed in a Serge Mansau bottle, is highlighted by 25% Calabrian marine bergamot and blended with black currant, melon, lily of the valley, Tunisian orange blossom, Egyptian jasmine, mahogany, oakmoss, seaweed, ambergris and musk.

I’m a sucker for anything orange blossom and often find that the scent of bergamot ever-so-slightly reminds me of it. So often used as a top note, accenting the opening aroma of a thousand fragrances, in Bergamotto Marino Bourdon uses bergamot as a centerpiece, a starting point from which to introduce whispers of white florals set against a fresh marine accord of seaweed, ambergris, and musk…

Canali, the Milan-based men’s apparel company, launched their first fragrance this year: Canali for Men. It was created by perfumer Pierre Bourdon, and the notes include bergamot, tangerine, pineapple, apple, nutmeg, cardamom, coriander, lily of the valley, jasmine, violet, orange blossom, leather, suede, iris absolute, guaiac wood, cedar wood, sandal, vetiver, tonka bean, amber and oakmoss…
