Dancing on drugs

British regulators on Wednesday banned a television advert for the Yves St Laurent perfume "Belle D'Opium", upholding complaints that the dancing female star looked as if she was taking drugs.

A gentleman has respect for himself

In case you thought it was only women who were regularly subjected to overenthusiastic photoshopping, just take a look at poor Matthew McConaughey, the front man for Dolce & Gabbana's new The One Gentleman. Read more here and here. The title, by the way, comes from McConaughey's statement to People magazine about the inspirations for the new fragrance.

Celebrity advertising

Respondents were asked whether the presence of a celebrity in an ad makes them more likely or less likely to buy the product, or leaves them neither more nor less likely to do so. Just 8 percent said seeing the celebrity makes them more likely to buy the product, vs. 12 percent saying it makes them less likely. But a landslide 78 percent said it doesn't affect them one way or the other.
