A robot will fetch the fragrance matching your olfactory profile

Posted by Robin on 28 September 2021 2 Comments

Exhibits tackle questions like: How do the industry’s top “noses” create scents? Why was the original Eau Sauvage by Edmond Roudnitska such a popular bestseller? How is smell linked to memory? At the end of the visit, a robot will fetch the fragrance matching your olfactory profile in the museum's gorgeous store.

— A new Grand Musée du Parfum will open in Paris this December (the last one closed in 2018). Read more in A Sneak Peek at Paris's New Grand Musée du Parfum at Condé Nast Traveler. Update: Nope, my mistake, still closed!

The installation, called Mille Facettes—A Thousand Facets of Olfactory Lights, was presented as an artistic interpretation of the new fragrance, purporting to take the visitor for some 90 seconds inside a diamond, or more accurately inside a Plexiglas box in which a white light was diffused into a million facets of colors, plunging the visitor into the creative mind of the perfumer.

— Cartier's pop-up installation for Carat can be found at the Cartier pop-up shop on Wooster Street in NYC, or at rue Vieille du Temple in Paris. Read more in At Its ‘Rendez-Vous’ Experience, Cartier Mines the Past and Present to Reinvent Classic Luxury at ArtNet.
