Parfumerie Generale Aomassai

Aomassaï is fragrance no. 10 from Parfumerie Generale, and is a 2006 release. It was “inspired by Southern Africa and the art of the Baoulé tribe“, and includes notes of caramel, toasted hazelnuts, spices, vetiver, balsam wood, bitter orange, incense, liquorice, wengué wood, dried grasses and resin.

Iris Taizo is no. 14 in the Parfumerie Generale line. It launched in 2002 but was only made available on the Parfumerie Generale website recently. It has notes of cardamom, jinkoh wood, fig tree honey, and vanilla. Today Marlen and I are debating its merits…

Cologne Grand Siecle by Parfumerie Generale

Cologne Grand Siècle is no. 7 in the Parfumerie Generale line, which now comprises 15 fragrances. It was launched in 2005 and has notes of tangerine, bergamot, bitter orange, grapefruit, lemon, cardamom, herbs, ylang ylang, dry woods, vetiver and wheat.

I am very fond of classic colognes. The term cologne is now used somewhat generically to indicate any fragrance with a concentration that is less than an Eau de Toilette (usually that means less than 5%), but here I am referring to the descendants of the original, citrus-based Eau de Cologne first created in 1709 by Johann Maria Farina, an Italian perfumer who had settled in Cologne, Germany.

According to Parfumerie Generale, perfumer Pierre Guillaume limited his palette for Cologne Grand Siècle to natural, certified organic ingredients that would have been accessible in the 18th century…

Parfumerie Generale Yuzu Ab Irato fragranceParfumerie Generale is set to launch no. 9: Yuzu Ab Irato, with yuzu, spearmint leaves, pepper, magnolia, jasmine, hyacinth, absolute of thyme, hyssop, myrtle, and bamboo. Samples will be available on their website on 1/20; bottles to follow in March. Also coming later in the year: a new oriental fragrance and a more concentrated version of L’Eau Rare Matale.
