Perfume review: Nanadebary Green

Nanadebary Green fragrance

Today I am trying Nanadebary’s latest fragrance release, Green, which features notes of citron, bergamot, basil, cardamom, nutmeg, thyme, musk, and vetiver.

The top notes are sharp green citrus. It smells very much like lemon verbena, with a fair amount of basil added. The cardamom and nutmeg add a slightly spicy, dusty undertone, but they are considerably more subdued than in the Nanadebary Classic Pink fragrance…

Nanadebary Classic Pink fragrance

Nanadebary launched their eponymous fragrance in 2001; it is now known as Classic Pink to distinguish it from the Nanadebary fragrances that followed: Bronze and Green. It was created by Santa Maria Novella, and has notes of nutmeg, coriander, sicilian tangerine, bergamot, lily, jasmine, sandalwood, cedar, musk, amber and bourbon vanilla.

Classic Pink starts with light citrus and heavy spices, and settles to a smooth, spicy blend of sandalwood and vanilla with a touch of amber. The nutmeg is quite pronounced. The floral notes are indistinct — I would not have guessed either lily or jasmine — and they are pretty much gone after 45 minutes on me. It is a sweet fragrance, but I don’t find it overly foody…
