The Monday Mail ~ open thread for feedback, May through August

Posted by Robin on 2 November 2008 27 Comments

This is an open thread for participants in the Monday Mail articles to share their experiences, and hopefully let us know if they found what they were looking for (or went bankrupt trying). I'm sending out emails tonight requesting feedback from everyone who took part between May and August of this year, so check back over the next few days to see what we can find out.

Here are links to the articles for each participant…

The Monday Mail ~ help Kristen find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 27 October 2008 71 Comments

MailboxOur victim this week is Kristen. Kristen is in her late 20s and works for a non-profit organization in California, about an hour from San Franciso. Her work takes her into both urban and rural areas. Here are a few more details about Kristen:

She loves eating, cooking, trying new restaurants and new kinds of Scotch.

Other likes: being outside, reading, spending time with friends & family, traveling.

She is liberal politically, but dresses conservatively.

Kristen's goal: to find an interesting, daring, and sophisticated daily scent. It has to be less than $150, and it'd be even better if it was less than $100…

Posted by Robin on 20 October 2008 76 Comments

PostboxToday we're helping Rebecca, who will be getting married next year. Some details about Rebecca and her wedding plans:

Rebecca is in her late 20s.

Her wedding will be held between mid-August and mid-October.

Rebecca wants to find a new perfume that will remind her of her wedding day every time she smells it…

The Monday Mail ~ help Caitlin find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 13 October 2008 39 Comments

PostboxToday we're helping Caitlin find her new “everyday” fragrance. She's in her 20s and works as a lawyer in Phoenix, and says she doesn't know “a ton about perfume”. Caitlin wore Ghost Deep Night as her signature daytime scent for many years, but she can't find a bottle anywhere now. She's tried a number of other scents in her search for a substitute, but so far, nothing fits.

A few details about Caitlin: she goes out a lot, loves trying new restaurants and bars, “especially cool little locally-owned downtown ones”. She's a green-eyed brunette, loves dressing up, and is “incredibly stubborn, with a strong personality”. She'd like a perfume to match, but she'd like us to find one that goes for $150 or less, and she'd be even happier if it was under $100. The new scent should be “adult, complicated and sensual”.

Perfumes Caitlin has worn in the past include Christian Dior J'Adore (her “going out” scent), Coco Mademoiselle…

The Monday Mail ~ help Stefanie find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 6 October 2008 53 Comments

Distinguished Shadow

Stefanie is single, in her late 20s, and has been a fragrance addict since she was 6 years old. She's now living in Zurich and working for a well-known fragrance brand. Stefanie is very much into fashion, and changes her hair style and color regularly.

Stefanie wants our help in finding her winter 2008 fragrance. She wants something comforting, warm, dark, sensual, sexy, possibly with a “trashy edge”. It should be unusual, but not loud (nothing like Thierry Mugler Angel or Christian Dior Poison).

Stefanie likes… jasmine, rose, amber, musk, hinoki wood, sandalwood, fig, fragrances with a touch of the masculine, and vanilla so long as it is not too gourmand…
