The Monday Mail ~ help Eloise find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 16 February 2009 25 Comments

Eloïse is a young 20-something living in Montreal, and she'd like to find a new perfume, something “feminine, sensual but with a beautiful, charming twist”. She'd prefer niche to mainstream, but she'd like to keep the cost under $175.

Eloïse has brown hair and green eyes, and describes herself as quick, sentimental, and sensual but in a subtle way. She prefers a classic look, and loves high heels. In general, she likes old things over new things, and she'd love to work in a museum. She thinks of perfumes as “atmospheres”, and her perfect perfume would reflect a mix of…

The Monday Mail ~ help Brianna find a new perfume

This week we're helping Brianna, a college student in her early 20s. She'd like a new fruity floral scent for casual everyday wear, and she needs the cost to stay under $60. Brianna likes her perfume to make a statement, and she likes fragrances that smell “perfume-y and not like foods or natural essences”. Still, she doesn't want her perfume to smell too synthetic (which she defines as “plastic smelling”) or too candied.

Brianna describes herself as “spontaneous, a deep thinker, and shy until you get to know me”.

Brianna likes notes of pear, plum, tangerine, and amber. Her current collection includes Salvador Dali Dalistyle by Salvador Dali (too dressy for everyday wear), Boss Femme by Hugo Boss (too heavy for everyday wear), Ralph Lauren Ralph Rocks, Only by Givenchy…

The Monday Mail ~ help Regina find a new perfume

Regina, who thinks of herself as a “perfumista in training”, is turning 30 this month, and she'd like to find a new perfume to celebrate the transition. Her dream perfume would be “a sensual evening sort of thing, though not necessarily overtly come-hither”. She doesn't need something nobody else wears, but she'd rather find something she won't be smelling everywhere. Here is what we know about Regina:

Regina is a children's book editor, and she lives in Brooklyn.

Her style is more thrift shop than high end.

She loves salsa dancing, and her birthday celebrations will include karaoke.

So far in her testing, her two favorites for casual wear are Bvlgari Omnia and Miller et Bertaux Green…

The Monday Mail ~ help Becca find a new perfume

Becca, who comments here regularly as alotofscents, is looking for the perfect romantic floral for her signature scent. She'd like to find a “fresh cut” floral with a touch of white flowers and a slight green note. She doesn't want anything cloying, and she'd like to still be smelling the flowers after a few hours. Here is what we know about Becca:

Becca is single and in her late 40s.

She's a wildlife officer and an animal nerd, and is active in community theater.

She's a tomboy and a girly girl: she's an excellent shot, but loves being soft and pretty.

She's petite, and generally wear jeans and boots with romantic, whimsical, or cute t-shirts…

The Monday Mail ~ help Laura find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 19 January 2009 48 Comments

Laura is looking for a “sexy, confident, come hither” fragrance for evening wear. She doesn't care if it's niche or mainstream, but she'd like to keep the cost under $200, and she'd prefer something that comes in a small size since she isn't going to wear it every day. Here is what we know about Laura:

She's in her 30s, and has two kids.

She describes herself as a “high power career person”, and she wants her scent to match — it should say “I like to be in charge and I’m cunning”.

She grew up in Southern California; now she's living in the Pacific Northwest.

Laura describes her style as “casual vintage and kitschy”, and she likes bold simple lines.

For day wear, Laura is mostly drawn to unisex fragrances that “tilt” towards feminine. She likes woods, cool scents, moss notes…
