The Monday Mail ~ help Philippe find a new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 October 2009 36 Comments

letter

Philippe, who “started a long love affair with perfume” after reading Perfume by Patrick Süskind, is looking for a new citrus-y and/or fresh summer fragrance. He can pay up to $120. He has access to reasonably good perfume shops, but would prefer not to buy online. Here is what we know about Philippe:

He’s in his teens, and he lives in Quebec, about an hour from Montreal.

He loves to read, especially old classics. He also loves food.

He also loves sports: he’s on swimming and volleyball teams and takes tennis lessons.

He dreams of launching a perfume line.

Philippe likes moderately foody fragrances and orientals. He doesn’t generally go for florals but he does like mimosa. He loves citrus. Other favorite notes include frankincense, vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla…

The Monday Mail ~ help Ammy find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 21 September 2009 41 Comments

letter

This week, we’re helping Ammy. Ammy is in her late teens, and she lives in Asia. She wants to find…

…a daily wear perfume that’s also an extension of my personality (or rather an extension of who I think I am). Something that’s fun and flirty with a wild side that’s slightly sultry.

She’d also like something long-lasting but not overbearing, and “sweet without smelling like I was doused in cotton candy”. Ammy says she’s fussy and rebellious, and she likes to party but still prefers a good book at the end of the day. She wants to be mysterious, but she’s very predictable…

The Monday Mail ~ help Denise find fragrances for the flower girls

Posted by Robin on 14 September 2009 97 Comments

letter

The Monday Mail is back after a long summer vacation, and today we’re helping Denise. It will be a large evening wedding with 350 guests, but Denise says it will be “more linen than silk”. The wedding will be held in the South — the weather could be hot, or it could be cool.

The young ladies are both 5 years old, and they’ll be wearing long dresses. They’ll have wreaths of flowers on their heads and will be carrying flower balls…

The Monday Mail ~ open thread for feedback, January through April 2009

Posted by Robin on 27 July 2009 20 Comments

The Monday Mail is taking a brief summer vacation: look for it to return in late August. Meantime, this is an open thread for participants to share their experiences, and hopefully let us know if they found what they were looking for (or went bankrupt trying). I’ve sent out emails requesting feedback from everyone who took part between January and April of this year, so check back over the next few days to see what we can find out.

Here are links to the articles for each participant…
