The Monday Mail ~ help Lucas find a new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 27 June 2011 39 Comments

Today we’re helping Lucas, who wants to find a new casual fragrance (and he wouldn’t mind finding a big occasion fragrance too). He’d like to keep the cost below $100. He has reasonably good access to mainstream fragrances, and is willing to shop online.

Here is what we know about Lucas:

He’s in his early 20s, and is studying cosmetic chemistry in Poland.

He says he is quiet, not easy to anger, and not always confident. His friends tell him he’s a romantic soul. He likes small cafes and cozy places.

Lucas loves smooth jazz and some pop music; other loves include tea, swimming, ice skating, walking in the park, shopping for clothes and traveling.

Lucas likes notes of lavender, fougere, amber, mint. His favorite scent at the moment is Prada Amber Pour Homme…

The Monday Mail ~ help Cady find a new fragrance

Today we’re helping Cady, who wants to find two new fragrances: a casual scent for day, and a special occasion romantic scent for night. Cady says she doesn’t like smelling like everyone else, and she can spend about $100-150 on each perfume.

Here is what we know about Cady:

She’s a creative professional in her early 30s, and she lives in New York City.

She says her style is bohemian chic…trendy, but with her own flair.

She likes to go organic when she can, she loves the beach, and considers herself more European than American in lifestyle: she works to live, loves travel and food.

She says she is warm and friendly with a wacky sense of humor.

Cady likes fresh, clean, and beachy fragrances…

The Monday Mail on Tuesday ~ help Eleni find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 14 June 2011 62 Comments

I forgot to post the Monday Mail on Monday, again! Here it is, a day late.

Today we’re helping Eleni, who lives in Romania and has just finished a degree in theater directing. She’d like to find a daytime perfume she could wear to rehearsals. It shouldn’t offend or distract others, but it should help her confidence and make a statement — a “creative-signature work-scent”. She can pay up to $130, and she is happy to shop online.

Here are some more details about Eleni:

She’s an art- and film-buff with a somewhat moody personality. She wears simple unisex clothes, earthy/green tones, the occasional splash of color. She says she looks “like the plump version of Shirley Manson from Garbage back in the nineties”.

She has strong views on life and enjoys the simple pleasures. She likes housecleaning, opera, Russian and Japanese literature, American poetry, Poland, art-scouting and art-squatting, festivals, collecting old/vintage clothes for theater costumes, mahjong, mikado, chess, poker and swimming.

Eleni likes notes of cedar, fir, aniseed, iris, honeysuckle, almond, nutty notes, incense, leather, suede, verbena, and ripe fruits…

The Monday Mail ~ help Cailyn find a new perfume

post box, Melaka, Malaysia

Today we’re helping Cailyn, who has been wearing Guerlain Mitsouko for 20 years. Lately she’s finding that the Eau de Parfum smells different — she says it “used to move quickly to the bottom notes and almost wear like a skin scent on me… [now it gets] stuck in the middle notes”. She wants to find something new, hopefully within her price limit of around $100…

The Monday Mail ~ help Kyla find a new perfume

Posted by Robin on 23 May 2011 59 Comments

post box, Melaka, Malaysia

Today we’re helping Kyla. Kyla is getting back into the dating scene after a long term relationship and wants to find the perfect “date night” perfume. Her daytime fragrances tend to be restrained, cool, and calming, now she wants something that is approachable and sexy but that isn’t too sweet or overpowering. Kyla doesn’t have good access to perfume stores, so she’ll be shopping online. She’d like to find something for under $100, but she’d also be happy with a decant.

Here is what we know about Kyla:

She’s in her mid-20s, and works as an environmental scientist in a small town in Northern Canada.

She is a bit shy and quiet, and sometimes comes off as aloof, but she’s more talkative with people she knows, and she has a sharp sense of humor.

Her style is classic and feminine — more Joan Holloway than Betty Draper.

Kyla likes incense, florals, woods, amber, coniferous trees, hay, grass, clover, rose, tea, spices, “sharp” smells like lavender, rosemary or eucalyptus. She also doesn’t mind aldehydes, “old lady” perfumes, loud white flowers or odd notes like rubber, but she’s not sure those will work for her date night perfume…
