Today we’re helping Jacqueline. She’s looking for a replacement for her long time signature scent, Escada Margaretha Ley. She says everyone knew her by that fragrance, and she misses it. She also wore Dior’s Tendre Poison, and she misses that too. Here is what we know about Jacqueline:

She’s in her mid 40s and is happily married. She lived in Bangladesh for a few years, right now she is living in the Netherlands.

She is tall with dark brown hair. She used to work in luxury cosmetics, but now she helps in her husband’s logistics company and does volunteer work.

She loves gold, and hates fake things: she says she wants the real thing or nothing at all.

Jacqueline is currently wearing Chanel Coco and Boucheron…

The Monday Mail ~ help Kate find a new fragrance

Today we’re helping Kate. Kate is just turning 40 and her daughter is just turning 1; she wants to mark the occasion with a new perfume that will help her ‘reclaim her sense of self’. She’s happy to consider all sorts of fragrances (day, evening, summer, winter, women’s, men’s), and she’s also happy to consider decants, so she doesn’t have a specific budget in mind. Here is what we know about Kate:

She’s a part-time PhD student living in London.

She says she is quiet and fairly introverted, and tends to prefer solitary activities, but she can be quite outgoing in the company of friends.

She has an ironic (and probably fairly British) sense of humor, and she’s a perfectionist.

Kate loves art galleries, reading, ballet, single malt whisky, antiques, and things of quality.

Her style is classic, but unafraid to experiment – if she had the money, she’d wear Alexander McQueen.

Kate likes leathers, mossy scents, earth, freshly cut wood, white florals, vetiver, the smell of old books, freshly extinguished candles, and real ink…

Today we’re helping Jen, who wants to find a long lasting, artistic, uplifting and vibrant scent to replace her signature, which used to be Christian Dior’s Tendre Poison but is currently Balmain Vent Vert. She’s willing to shop online, and she might pay as much as $125 for something absolutely perfect. Here is what we know about Jen:

She’s in her early 40s.

She’s an artist and uses perfume as mood enhancer.

She’s also a runner and an indie movie lover.

Jen likes bright fragrances, and notes of ginger, grass, bergamot, mandarin and fresh florals. Perfumes she has worn in the past include Cacharel Anaïs Anaïs, Clinique Happy, Estee Lauder Knowing and Estee Lauder Beautiful…

The Monday Mail ~ help Lucie find a new fragrance

Today we’re helping Lucie, who says that although she has been wearing perfume for years, she is only just starting to realize the power it can have. She has usually worn fresh, green, citrus-y scents, but now she’d like to find something deeper and more seductive. The perfect perfume would cast a spell, but also be sophisticated. She lives in London so has good access to stores, and she doesn’t have a price limit. Here is what we know about Lucie:

She’s a book editor in her late 30s. She’s blonde with blue eyes and an English rose complexion — she is told she is very feminine.

She’s single, and she likes going out to restaurants, dancing and parties. She also spends lots of time in the country — walking, riding, picnics.

Her taste is classic and elegant, but she also has a daring and sexy side.

Lucie likes warm, sexy vanillas, cinnamon, caramel, and toasty leather…

The Monday Mail ~ help Linda find two new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 6 February 2012 46 Comments

Today we’re helping Linda, who wants to find two new perfumes. One should be a daily “signature” scent, and she’d like the other to be a romantic fragrance for special occasions. She can pay up to $100 each. She’d prefer perfumes that aren’t too popular or mainstream, although that’s not a deal-breaker, and she’d like them to be pretty but interesting — they don’t have to be complicated scents. She has good access to perfume stores. Here is what we know about Linda:

She’s in her mid-20s and lives in San Francisco, where she works as a pharmacist.

She says she is slow to catch on to new trends — she prefers simple and classic, with feminine touches. Her favorite piece of clothing is a grey draped cashmere sweater from J. Crew.

Linda is shy when meeting new people, but can be bright and goofy once she gets to know them better.

Linda likes notes of osmanthus, champaca, white musk, sandalwood, orange blossom and cedar…
