The daily lemming

Well well. From Mark Buxton, a Vetiver & Magnolia candle. The (unfortunately, not terribly helpful) description: "The Vetiver & Magnolia candle transports us through fruity notes that mingle with woody facets contrasted by a touch of vetiver." Still, it does appear to be vetiver and magnolia, so it would be worth a shot if you had money burning a hole in your pocket. 190g for €54 at Nose in France.

Friday scent of the day 11/30

Posted by Robin on 30 November 2018 329 Comments

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

These fragrances need not last longer than 10 minutes: I use them most right out of the shower (before putting on a stronger perfume) or at bedtime (when long-lasting fragrances are verboten).

Comme des Garçons has reissued its 1994 1996 Eau de Cologne as part of the Olfactory Library series…

Wow

This accord I scribbled down, and when we got a second chance I showed it to our evaluation team and marketing and press team, they all said, “It’s bullshit, it’s not a perfume it’s an accord,” and I said, “So what? They’re not looking for a perfume if you ask me. I mean we had great fragrances but they said ‘no, it’s commercial’” so I convinced them to show him that, and when she came back she had like a banana [smile] on her face like “wow”.

— Perfumer Mark Buxton talks about developing Comme des Garcons Eau de Parfum (1994; the one that "works like a medicine and behaves like a drug"), and other things; read more at A Sensory Journey: Mark Buxton at Wonderland.
