A minimum spend of £40,000

Posted by Robin on 12 December 2023 8 Comments

A new opportunity in ultra-luxe beauty is unfolding. In 2024, premium brands will be exploring how to woo the wealthiest consumers through product innovations and retail experiences.

It is a trend that has already permeated hospitality and fashion. This year, Chanel unveiled two invitation-only boutiques for its top-tier clients in China, while Gucci’s new Salon concept, open in London, Los Angeles and Tokyo, has a minimum spend of £40,000.

I'll take one of each. 40th anniversary editions of perfumer Guy Robert's Amouage Gold Man and Amouage Gold Woman, both updated by perfumer Alexandra Carlin and presented in "the highest quality crystal, made in the original moulds and hand-blown reality in the workshops of the High Cristallerie haven of Waltersperger in the heart of Normandy, France". To be released in December, 500 bottles were made of each, $1,950 a pop.

In case you have plenty of extra cash lying about this holiday, just screaming for a purpose, here's the D-Air diffuser from Dior: "Born from a collaboration between the excellence of La Collection Privée Christian Dior's savoir-faire and the technological expertise of the French brand Compoz Paris, the D-Air fragrance diffuser is a singular object, a genuine manifesto of beauty with a pure and contrasting design. Intuitive to use, it features a simple refill system, a one-touch start, and an ajustable diffusion time. This exceptional piece works with capsules that diffuse the olfactory notes of Thé Osmanthus, Ambre Nuit, Oud Supreme, Jardin d'Orangers and Figue Méditerranée." $2900. I think it includes the 5 fragrance capsules but I'm not sure and hey, what's the difference. Refill capsules are $95 each or $475 for the set of 5.

From Guerlain, the fifth (at least I think it’s the fifth?) model honoring the 170th birthday of the bee bottle (see Maison Matisse Couleur Bonheur, Bouquet de la Mariée Murano edition, Reve d’Amour Nadine Kanso edition, Bee Garden): Le Bouquet de la Cour, with the bottle done up by Parisian jewelers Chaumet. Featuring 300+ diamonds (including a ring with a two-carat stone hidden in the stopper), 650 grams of gold, and you pick the fragrance. Videos below the jump…

Yet another spendy number from Guerlain to honor the 170th birthday of the bee bottle, although this one came out before the one I posted on Friday, and this one features a new fragrance: Reve d’Amour (a festival of white flowers" with mandarin, petitgrain, benzoin, cedar and ambrette), in a bottle from Lebanese designer Nadine Kanso, featuring the word "Love" in Swarovski-crystal-and 24-karat-gold-gilded calligraphy. 30 were made, 1 liter for £13,500.

And meanwhile, this year's Muguet is now available on the Guerlain website, $750.
