Rosine La Rose Legere, Lush Vanillary ~ new perfumes

Posted by Robin on 2 April 2009 21 Comments

Les Parfums de Rosine La Rose Legere fragranceLes Parfums de Rosine has launched La Rose Légère, a new summer version of La Rose de Rosine:

Beautiful days are back and La Rose de Rosine metamorphoses in an Eau Fraîche, a more lively, light and sweet fragrance: LA ROSE LEGERE.

The top note is gently kicked by a wild strawberry and is mixing the green and grinding blackcurrant, the acidulous and fresh bergamot and the sweet neroli…

Lush The Olive Branch, Sakura, The Comforter & Snow Showers ~ new perfumes

Lush solid perfumes

Lush has added several new fragrances to their range of solid perfumes:

The Olive Branch ~ “Not fruity or flowery or frilly, instead this fragrance subtly calls to the Mediterranean. Olive Branch has a welcoming warmth to it, with organic olive oil and the fresh juice of mandarin oranges. Clean and neutral, for boys or girls, Olive Branch brings calm to a hectic day…”

A handful of hand creams: A round-up for winter 2008

Posted by Jessica on 15 November 2008 36 Comments

Winter is approaching in my part of the world, and it’s time to protect skin — including hands — against the cold, dry air. I expect a good-quality hand cream to moisturize effectively, of course, but it will appeal to me even more if it has natural ingredients, a lush texture, stylish packaging … and a fragrance with aromatherapeutic benefits or pleasant associations. Here are a few choices that include some or all of those features.

The scent of L’Occitane Honey & Lemon Hand Cream is both bright and soothing, tart and sweet; it’s mouth-watering without being too dessert-like. Its small tube is perfect for carrying in a purse. ($10 for 1 oz. at loccitane)

Malin + Goetz Vitamin B5 Hand Treatment is my current pick for a workplace hand cream…

Coffee, coffee, coffee ~ scented body products

Posted by Jessica on 5 October 2008 24 Comments

I’ve written before about my love for coffee, both as a beverage and as a fragrance. I’m always surprised that more coffee-scented body products don’t exist. Surely I’m not the only person who loves this smell so much? For anyone who shares my obsession, here’s a summary of a few high-quality toiletries that include actual coffee for its smell as well as its other benefits.

Lush’s Sonic Death Monkey Shower Gel (shown above, middle) looks like something you could drizzle over ice cream, and it smells like a drink that would set you back about $7 at Starbucks: a potent mocha blend of coffee and chocolate, with a shot of orange syrup…

Septimanie Perfumes Pavillon des Fleurs and Lush Jasmine & Henna Fluff Ease ~ jasmine!

Posted by Robin on 9 April 2008 30 Comments

Septimanie Perfumes Pavillon des Fleurs

Pavillon des Fleurs is the debut fragrance from Septimanie Perfumes. The ad copy calls it a “luminous and refined fragrance” and a “sonata of white flowers”, but Angela described it more bluntly in an email as “a good wallop of jasmine”. Who doesn’t love a good wallop of jasmine? (If you’re thinking: uh, me, then move on to the next post, there’s nothing else to see here today.)

Pavillon des Fleurs starts out, actually, with a little slap of jasmine, lightened by orange blossom and a touch of citrus, and only slowly builds up to the goodly wallop stage, although do bear in mind that I’m trying it from a vial…
