Serious cute: Lush's Golden Pear Soap. "When winter's ways leave skin feeling dry, this gorgeous sudser swoops in to the rescue. Its two lustrous golden halves meet in the middle with a creamy center of luxurious murumuru butter and almond oil. Fresh pear puree, cozy cardamom oil and rich fair trade organic cocoa butter make for seriously softening, spiced fruit suds. One of our most moisturizing soaps, this one will keep your skin silky and hydrated all season long. It's pear, spice and everything nice!" $8.95 for 180g.

Scented advent calendars 2017, part 1

Posted by Robin on 13 October 2017 9 Comments

With the usual apologies for holiday creep, I’m starting our yearly roundup of advent calendars now, since they tend to launch early and then sell out quickly. If you want one, buy it soon. Part 2 will be coming up later this month. (Please note that some of these calendars are not available in the US. Advent calendars are more popular in the UK than in the US).

Diptyque’s 2017 Advent is out at Selfridges: “Make this year’s countdown to Christmas the most special yet with the anticipated Advent Calendar from Diptyque. Housing 25 little treasures to discover before the big day, it brings together the label’s beloved products in a unique discovery format. Look forward to a selection of cute miniatures including 10ml Vinaigre de Toilette, deluxe 15ml skin and body care, mini-candles in 35g format and a 70g candle make every day a celebration.” £300. (Most years, this ends up in the US as well but sells out fast…)

I don't want this, but maybe you do? Lush's Naked Shower Gel, which is a shower gel in a solid form. Wait, you say, isn't that bar soap? No, says Lush, but they need a wall of words to explain — how will that go over in the brick 'n mortar stores? It's shown above in one of my favorite scents, Happy Hippy, and I still would rather have it in the jar, even if the jar wastes plastic and then the plastic is in my fish and who knows where else.

If you want one, it's £9.25 for 240g at Lush's UK Kitchen. There is also Naked Rose Jam (!) and a bunch of other "naked" products from deodorant to body conditioner to a handwash called "Solid Liquid Soap". Props to Lush for making us all think about wasteful packaging, anyway.

Lush Ro's Argan bar soap

If your Rose Jam is running low and won't hold out until the next batch is released, Lush's bar soap in Ro's Argan might tide you over. "With a decorative sprinkling of red and yellow roses, this glossy, moisturizing soap is a decadent experience from start to finish. After you’ve washed up with the creamiest suds imaginable, our sweet and fruity Rose Jam perfume will linger on your skin that’s been softened by antioxidant-rich argan oil, soothing rose oil and hydrating glycerin." $15.95.

Lush Volume 4

Lush has launched Volume 4 of their Gorilla Perfumes series. There are five fragrances so far, all of which have had limited previews at the Lush UK Kitchen and at Lush live events: Rentless, Cardamom Coffee, I’m Home, Amelie Mae and What Would Love Do. There is also Tank Battle (see below), which may or may not be part of this series but is related conceptually…
