Christian Dior Fahrenheit 32 ~ fragrance review

Christian Dior Fahrenheit 32 TV ad

Fahrenheit 32 is the creation of Hedi Slimane (Christian Dior’s former artistic director), perfumer Louise Turner, and François Demachy, current director of perfume development at Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy. Fahrenheit 32 is described as a “fresh oriental” and its main ingredients are orange blossom, vetiver and vanilla — with added “fresh notes,” a “solar note” and aldehydes.

The only similarity between “original” Fahrenheit and Fahrenheit 32 is the shape of their bottles, so judge Fahrenheit 32 on its own merits.

If Fahrenheit was about ‘heat’, Fahrenheit 32, with its name (the temperature at which water freezes), packaging (frosty white and metallic) and advertisements (featuring high altitudes) seems to proclaim its “coolness” — while using rather “warm” ingredients…

Thierry Mugler Ice*Men fragrance

Thierry Mugler will launch Eau de Star for women and Ice*Men for men in April in Europe, September in the US. Both fragrances are based on the “powerful patchouli olfactory signature of Angel”:

J Lo Glow by Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez released Glow, her first fragrance, in 2002, making her something of an old hand in the current celebrity fragrance boom. The fragrance was meant to target women in their late teens and early 20s, who presumably make up a large part of her fan base. Glow was a tremendous success, ringing up over $100 million in sales in its first year. No doubt it helped to attract other celebrities into the fragrance market, and J Lo herself has not been idle — she has just launched her fifth fragrance, Love At First Glow.
