The daily lemming

I suppose I might be able to make room on my shelf for Eau Triple La Baigneuse, the fragrance perfumer Daniela Andrier created as an interpretation of the Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres painting The Valpinçon Bather, which hangs at The Louvre, who as you may remember asked Buly 1803 to come up with a few fragrances based on their collection. The collection is out now, 8 fragrances, each available in a variety of items including scented postcards, candles, soap sheets, alabasters (I'm still jealous of Jessica's) and spray perfumes. Here's the description for La Baigneuse, which is €125: "Steam rising from marble sluiced with waves of heated water, dampened muslin wraps the shining limbs, delicately soaped; susurrations of the hammam. After bathing, resting on fresh sheets, the skin, still beaded with moisture, is chafed with lavender and orange blossom; now refreshed, its velvety pallor like an iris petal pearled by a mist of incense and musk."

The newest Astier de Villatte incense flavor: Porte des Lilas. "A dream of times past: next stop, Porte des Lilas. At the exit of the Paris Métro 20s metro station, the stairs bring travellers to alleys neatly bordered by pretty little houses, with mauve lilacs overflowing their garden fences, mixed here and there with puffs of rose and jasmine. A hearty serving of 125 sticks in a comely blue box that is the finishing touch in many a chic room. Created in collaboration with Françoise Caron and made in Awaji, Japan - home of the best incense in the world thanks to its favorable climate, made in a thousand year old tradition handed down from father to son." $50 at Catbird (and they don't have them, but the scent does also come in a candle and perfumed eraser).

Most of my lemmings are fleeting, but I am still thinking about that darned Cire Trudon Salta candle. I thought Kevin might buy it and tell me if it was good, but apparently he does not want to be the guinea pig either. So here is Keap's Grapefruit + Yuzu ("The zestiness of citrus fruit just ripe—winter lemons, grapefruits and yuzus—and the freshness of citrus leaves wafting from your hands as you crush them. Perfect for a room filled with optimism, or days in need of a happy glow. Pure, sustainable, simple, KEAP candles are made from natural, slow-burning coconut wax. KEAP candles are clean-burning, lead-free and use cotton wicks. Each glass tumbler is reusable and made in the USA. 50 Hour burn time") which does not sound the same but might scratch the same itch? $39.50 at Twisted Lily. (And the reason I was looking at Keap this morning is that I came across L'Officiel Nose: Stephen Tracy of Keap.)

The packaging grabbed me; not sure I'm entirely convinced by the description. Ted Baker Opulent Crush body wash: "Ted’s Opulent Crush Body Wash luxuriously blends modern musky base notes and white patchouli with dewy raspberry and pear for a celebration of sparkling citrus", £8.50 for 200 ml at Boots.
