#kiss

Posted by Robin on 3 March 2017 1 Comment

Kiss Nails claims that Rihanna’s fragrance, which was released early this year, infringes its numerous trademark registrations for the “KISS” name – some dating back to as early as 1993 – in Class 3, which covers cosmetics, nail care products, and hair tools, among other goods. The company argues that Rihanna’s “Kiss Fragrance has been promoted using the hashtag “#kiss” on Rihanna’s official website, www.rihannanow.com … Rihanna has also promoted the Kiss Fragrance using the hashtag “#kiss” on her personal Instagram, @badgirlriri.”

Too boring

A Frenchman is suing his former employers for £280,000 for forcing him to quit his job because the work was 'too boring'. Frederic Desnard, 44, claims four years of menial tasks at a Paris-based perfume company left him 'depressed, destroyed and ashamed'. Mr Desnard claims his 'slow descent into hell' made him leave the firm, blaming his employers for his departure.

— Desnard worked for InterParfums. The French media is calling the syndrome "le bore-out". Read more at Frenchman sues former employers for £280,000 because his job was so BORING it made him depressed and forced him to quit at the Daily Mail.

Rap superstar Jay Z turned his nose up at promoting his eponymous fragrance, Gold Jay Z, refusing to make celebrity appearances while collecting $2 million in royalties from a licensing company, according to a new lawsuit. “Sales of Gold Jay Z have declined considerably because of Jay Z’s and his teams lack of interest in supporting and promoting his own brand,” according to the new $18 million suit filed by Perfumania Holdings Inc.

Rick, thick and full of it

The husband and wife team behind Lush – which this week won a high court battle against Amazon over its use of the word "lush" to sell rival cosmetics – has trademarked the name "Christopher North" as a brand name for a new range of toiletries, which could eventually extend to deodorants and hair removing cream. North is the managing director of Amazon.co.uk.

— After a 3 year battle with Amazon over the use of the word "lush" to sell bath bombs and other Lush-like products, Lush has won their lawsuit (and they're not really planning to market any "Christopher North" products, although they've already come up with the tag line "rich, thick and full of it"). Request staff not to wear Japanese Cherry Blossom

Posted by Robin on 13 March 2013 7 Comments

“DJFS offered to request staff not to wear Japanese Cherry Blossom, an accommodation specifically requested by plaintiff initially, and plaintiff failed to show that any other fragrance significantly affected her ability to breathe,” the court’s ruling said.

— Remember the Japanese Cherry Blossom lawsuit? The U.S. District Court ruled against the plaintiff, but after an appeal, she might get a payout anyway. Read more at $20K deal for worker in perfume case at the Springfield News-Sun.
