L’Artisan L’Eau de Jatamansi fragrance review

Posted by Robin on 7 May 2007 22 Comments

L'Eau de Jatamansi perfume by L'Artisan Parfumeur

L’Artisan Parfumeur introduced L’Eau de Jatamansi this month. The new unisex fragrance is the line’s first 100% natural, certified-organic scent, and follows the recently launched Jatamansi Body Collection. It was developed by perfumer Karine Vinchon, and the notes include jatamansi (aka nard or spikenard), clary sage, bergamot, grapefruit, cardamom, iced tea accord, Turkish rose, ylang ylang, patchouli, gaïac, vetiver, sandalwood, papyrus and incense.

I do not know if L’Eau de Jatamansi replaces the usual summer limited edition fragrance from L’Artisan this year, but it smells like a summer L’Artisan: a little bit of something spare and refreshing to cool you off on a hot day. The opening is lively and quick — a flash of lightly sugared grapefruit, replaced in short order by woody herbal notes and pale florals…

Jatamansi Body Cream by L’Artisan ~ scented body products

Posted by Jessica on 28 April 2007 2 Comments

L'Artisan Jatamansi Body Cream

With its new Jatamansi line, L’Artisan Parfumeur moves beyond fragrance (and the occasional matching scented lotion) into the realm of natural skincare. Following the fashion set years ago by companies such as Aesop and Jurlique and more recently updated by the bohemian-chic Jo Wood Organics, L’Artisan has blended organic, plant-derived ingredients into luxurious formulations for the body. The Jatamansi Bath Milk, Body Oil, and Body Cream are packaged in white containers with stylized black botanical elements, and they also continue L’Artisan’s interest in faraway destinations and exotic scents.

The central motif for this line is spikenard, called “jatamansi” in Sanskrit, a flowering plant that grows at high altitudes in the Himalayan mountains. Spikenard is a member of the valerian family of flowering plants, and the essential oil obtained from its rhizome has long been valued for its aromatherapeutic benefits…

L'Artisan L'Eau de Jatamansi ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 April 2007 10 Comments

L'Artisan Parfumeur L'Eau de Jatamansi perfumeNext month, L’Artisan Parfumeur launches L’Eau de Jatamansi, a new fragrance to match its 100% natural, certified-organic Jatamansi body collection (Body Oil, Milk Bath and Body Cream). Jatamansi is named for the Himalayan nard plant (Jatamansi in Sanskrit), also known as spikenard. Nard is a member of the valerian family and is said to be a calming agent; it is commonly used in incense and in Ayurvedic treatments…

L’Artisan Passage d’Enfer ~ perfume review

Posted by Robin on 30 March 2007 40 Comments

L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer fragrance

Passage d’Enfer was the first L’Artisan fragrance I fell in love with and purchased, and as the line eventually came to be a great favorite of mine, it would hold a special place in my affections even if only for that. As things go, quite a few of the fragrances I purchased in the early days of my perfume obsession now sit lonely and ignored in the back of my cabinet, but Passage d’Enfer, along with a few other old favorites (Diptyque Philosykos, Carthusia Mediterraneo) can count on regular wearings…

L’Artisan Creme d’Ananas: scented body products

Posted by Anjali on 11 March 2007 13 Comments

L'Artisan Creme d'Ananas body cream

Robin has already made a brief mention of how lovely she found Crème d’Ananas, the matching body cream to L’Artisan Ananas Fizz, but I couldn’t help writing more on the subject. Not being a fan of the original Ananas Fizz (too little pineapple, and far too much grapefruit and cedar for my tastes), I hardly expected to warm to the lotion. I probably wouldn’t even have tried it had I not decided to buy a jar as a Christmas present for a friend. Once I idly sampled the contents of the jar at the countertop while the sales assistant was ringing up my purchase, my friend’s needs suddenly receded to the background and I decided that perhaps the cream should be my Christmas present instead!

I’m not sure that I can adequately describe just how wonderful this product is…
