L’Artisan Iris Pallida 2007 ~ fragrance review

Posted by Robin on 11 October 2007 45 Comments

L'Artisan Iris Pallida 2007 perfume

I’m pretty sure that I’ve said in the past that there can’t be too many variations on iris. The perfume industry seems determined to prove me wrong this year: iris fragrances are suddenly everywhere. I am sticking to my guns, but only partially: there can be too many too fast. Iris Pallida 2007, the newest entry in L’Artisan Parfumeur’s limited edition vintage harvest series, is by my calculation the most expensive of the lot.

Iris Pallida was developed by perfumer Anne Flipo, who also did the two prior scents in the Harvest series (Fleur d’Oranger 2005 and Fleur de Narcisse 2006). The notes include lily of the valley, orange blossom, Turkish rose, anise, violet leaves, cedar, vetiver, iris absolute, ambrette seed, white musk, gaïac wood and patchouli. It starts with bright citrus and floral notes…

L’Artisan Parfumeur ~ shopping for perfume in New York

Posted by Guest Shopper on 19 September 2007 — 0 Comments — Comments are closed

L'Artisan Boutique on Madison Avenue

Two years after it opened its first New York City boutique in 2005, L’Artisan Parfumeur now has four locations throughout Manhattan. The flagship boutique on Madison Avenue is the largest, with plenty of space to showcase the company’s imaginative approach to fragrance and sophisticated attention to detail.

Like the other boutiques, it offers L’Artisan’s full line of perfumes, including the candied-almond Jour de Fête and the spicy L’Eau de Navigateur, as well as the limited edition Harvest fragrances (the next one, in October, will be Iris Pallida 2007). Nestled into other display niches around the shop are L’Artisan’s home fragrance oils, candles, Jatamansi natural body products, and whimsical, colorful sachets. The gracious sales assistants are happy to guide you in exploring the product line, whether it’s your first visit to L’Artisan or you’ve been wearing Mûre et Musc for twenty years…

L'Artisan Iris Pallida harvest perfume

L’Artisan Parfumeur’s 2007 entry in their limited edition vintage harvest series (see Fleur d’Oranger and Fleur de Narcisse) will be Iris Pallida, a powdery floral woods fragrance. As with the prior two harvest scents, the perfumer is Anne Flipo…

L’Artisan Chez Moi ~ new home perfume diffuser

Posted by Robin on 18 August 2007 14 Comments

Next month, L'Artisan Parfumeur will introduce a new home perfume diffuser system, Chez Moi:

The new technique, a piezoelectric heat-free system, fragments the perfume molecules into microdroplets, and propels them in soft, sensual waves into the atmosphere of the room. […] Olfactory fidelity is total…

L’Artisan Dzing on the chopping block

Posted by Robin on 30 June 2007 14 Comments

L'Artisan has apparently ceased production on the 50 ml size of Dzing!, and the 100 ml size is slated to be discontinued at some unknown future date. You can read more at Aromascope, and thanks to Ina for permission to cross-post.

This is very discouraging news. Dzing! is weirdly brilliant and something of a cult favorite, and although we've never reviewed it, Angela has featured it twice: see Perfume Confession and The Leather Sisters.

I did not do a full scale search, but the 50 ml is still in stock at aedes, beautycafe and luckyscent.

Update: the 100 ml size of Dzing! is NOT discontinued.
