I said the other day that I’d have a hard time calling one of Elizabeth Taylor’s fragrances hilariously vile, but Kimora Lee Simmons doesn’t rate the same kid glove treatment — she’s just one more celebrity of whose existence I’d be blissfully unaware if she hadn’t jumped into the fragrance business. I was, I must say, mightily impressed with her legs in that ad, but a quick image search in Google justifies The A.V. Club’s claim that Ms. Simmons may have used up what remained of the world’s photoshop resources to make those legs. They are darned nice legs, but they’re clearly not her legs.

Dare Me, which launched earlier this spring under her Baby Phat line, is Simmons’ fifth fragrance, and she’s joined a number of her colleagues in the celebrity fragrance world in going downmarket: Dare Me is in mass market stores instead of Macy’s and the like, and can be had for a song (relatively speaking, of course). The (presumably) diminished resources have not dimmed her style, though: Dare Me’s opening is almost (but not quite) as over-the-top fruity and sweet as its predecessor, Baby Phat Fabulosity…

Kimora Lee Simmons Baby Phat Fabulosity

Fabulosity is the latest fragrance from Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat line. A representative from Coty described her first scent, Goddess, as “kitschy and over the top”; perhaps they were referring to the packaging and advertising, as I found it pretty standard fare: a fresh, clean-ish floral, fairly sheer yet still too sweet for my taste, and not particularly memorable (in fact, I believe I commented here recently that I had never tried it on skin, but I was wrong — there is a whole paragraph on it in my testing notes). Baby Phat Golden Goddess, a quintet from Banana Republic & Dunhill Pure for men ~ new fragrances

Kimora Lee Simmons Baby Phat Golden Goddess fragranceKimora Lee Simmons will launch the second perfume in her Baby Phat line, Baby Phat Golden Goddess, in September. The fragrance “…is a floral gourmand scent by Firmenich with a top note of bubbling champagne; a heart of seringa, blue lilies and night orchid, and a drydown of caramel, vanilla flower patchouli and vetiver.”

Baby Phat Golden Goddess is an Eau de Parfum, and is available in 50 and 100 ml and in Shimmering Body Lotion. The fragrance bottles feature a removable ring with faux yellow diamonds. (quote via Women's Wear Daily, additional information via babyphatfragrances & osmoz)

Look for five new fragrances from Banana Republic this fall. The “Discover Collection” consists of three scents for women (Alabaster, Rosewood & Jade) and two for men (Slate & Black Walnut)…

Baby Phat Goddess perfumeBaby Phat Goddess by Kimora Lee Simmons' Baby Phat line will launch in September. The fragrance, described as a “passionate floral bouquet”, was created by perfumer Jean-Claude Delville and has notes of gardenia, white rosebuds, cedrat flower, blue lily, hyacinth, black pepper, seringa, musk and exotic woods. Baby Phat Goddess is an Eau de Parfum and is available in 50 and 100 ml (the bottle features a removable rhinestone ring) and in matching body products.
