If you did not snatch up the Abeille Noire Édition Prestige / Black Bee Prestige Edition of Guerlain Imagine, here’s another chance to get a piece of French jeweler Lorenz Bäumer’s work for Guerlain: La Secret de la Reine. The wings open if you press on the 2 carat pear-shaped diamond just below the “head”, and then you can use a pipette to scent the honeycomb section. It is almost 3 inches long, and it can be worn as a brooch or pendant. Shown above in the rock crystal, white and yellow gold version, and below the jump in the onyx and white gold version. What to give the woman who has everything? It’s a question that consumed Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain when he was tasked with creating a fragrance to commemorate Empress Eugénie’s marriage to Napoleon III, in 1853. While the perfumer got to work on blending notes of bergamot, lemon, neroli, and petitgrain, he turned to the master glassmaker Pochet du Courval to design a bottle that was as stylish and memorable as its spirited young recipient.
