Guerlain L'Ame d'un Heros ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 February 2008 17 Comments

Guerlain L'Ame d'un Heros cologne for menCoriolan, a 1998 fragrance release for men, has been reissued by Guerlain under the Les Parisiennes collection. Its new name: L’Ame d’un Héros.

Coriolan was originally named for the Roman general Coriolanus, and featured notes of lemon tree leaves, bergamot, juniper, coriander, nutmeg, ginger, oak moss, wood and everlasting flower. Last February when I reviewed Annick Goutal’s Vanille Exquise, I noted that “I am not a huge vanilla fan in general, but there are cold, grey days when a bit of vanilla is just what you need”. When I heard Guerlain was making an “extreme” version of classic Vetiver, I was hoping it would be reminiscent of the 1980s version, but with better lasting power…

A tour of the Guerlain flagship on the Champs Elysées in Paris, guided by Sylvaine Delacourte, Guerlain's Creative Director. In French, but even if you don't understand a word, worth watching if you've never seen the interior.

Guerlain updated their flagship boutique in 2005 with a new design by Andrée Putman (interior designer) and Maxime d'Angeac (architect). You can read more about the renovations of the Guerlain store here.

Update: sorry, this video is no longer available!
