Friday scent of the day 4/4

Posted by Robin on 4 April 2025 181 Comments

Happy Friday! It’s also International Carrot Day. Birthdays: Dorothea Dix, Muddy Waters, Marguerite Duras, Maya Angelou. Our community project for today: wear a perfume that makes you think of clouds, fog, mist or haze. It could be anything that feels soft-focus, silvery, or a little ethereal, or maybe it’s the perfume that wraps around you like a thick, scented cloud. Thanks go to Glannys for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with Cartier Baiser Volé, which has already come up in the comments this week quite a few times…

Happy Friday and National Black Forest Cake Day! And happy 39th to Lady Gaga! Our community project for today: wear one of Lady Gaga’s fragrances, if you have one, or scent a Lady Gaga song, or wear any fragrance that you think fits either Lady Gaga or the perfume name “Fame”.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

For Lady Gaga singing Cole Porter’s Night and Day with Tony Bennett on the 2021 album Love for Sale (and since Glannys says she once wore it) I’m in Yves Saint Laurent Paris…

Happy Friday and happy International Fragrance Day! (Plus, World Vermouth Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, World Poetry Day and the International Day of Forests.) [Update: and I meant to say, the swapmeet is still open! There are even freebies still looking for new homes…] Our community project for today: Wear a fragrance and tell us why you picked it.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Guerlain Après L’Ondée seemed like a fitting way to celebrate World Fragrance Day plus the first Friday of spring. (Plus perfumelover67 wore it yesterday, plus, it rained last night…)

Happy Friday and happy Pi Day, plus happy Holi! Birthdays: Albert Einstein, Diane Arbus, Quincy Jones. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a hyacinth note, if you have one. If you don’t, pick another spring flowering bulb?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m on day 3 in L’Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois, and I could easily wear this for the rest of the season…

Friday scent of the day 3/7

It’s Friday, Alexander Graham Bell Day and Piet Mondrian’s birthday. Our community project for today is edition 10 of the Picture challenge: scent Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie, one of his most famous works. (You can find lots of links to possibly helpful reading on the Scent of the day page.) Not in the mood? Pick one of the colors and use it to choose a fragrance, or wear a fragrance that works for New York City in the early 1940s.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

So after reading New York Style in Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie, I looked for something that called to mind the movement and energy of jazz (“hectic, boisterous arrangement”) and of cities, plus joy and light, breaking out “from the captivity of black lines”, and etc. There are several fragrances I might have picked but no longer owned, so I ended up in good old Diptyque Oyédo…
