Friday scent of the day 9/7

Posted by Robin on 7 September 2018 279 Comments

It’s Friday at last. (And rest in peace, Burt Reynolds.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with cedar, if you have one.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with Comme des Garçons + Monocle Scent Three: Sugi. It’s been on my buy list since it came out in 2013 — I’m still waiting for that coffret of all three Monocle fragrances in travel size…

Friday scent of the day 8/31

Posted by Robin on 31 August 2018 295 Comments

That’s it for August, so don’t forget your rabbits tomorrow! And happy Fabric Friday. Our community project for today: wear a perfume named for some type of clothing or fabric, OR wear a scent you associate with a certain kind of clothing or fabric, OR wear a perfume with a fabric-related note (suede, cotton, etc). Thanks to Glannys for the suggestion!

Zero points for me this week! I’m packing to go home, and when I get there late afternoon I might find something that fits and put it on and report back. Meantime, I’m in Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil body lotion, again…

Friday scent of the day 8/24

Our community project for today: in honor of Pluto Demoted Day, wear a fragrance you used to obsess over, but don’t care so much about anymore. If you can, tell us why you don’t love it anymore. Thank you to Katrina for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I had a hard time with this one because I have given away my biggest contenders. I ended up with Houbigant Aperçu, a fragrance I bought because it was the closest thing to Guerlain Mitsouko that I found wearable. I was never really obsessed with it, but I probably thought I’d enjoy it more than I do, or that I’d grow into the style eventually. Nope. I probably wear it twice a year, and that’s enough…

Friday scent of the day 8/17

Happy Guessing Game Friday, edition 2! Our community project for today: describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we’ll see if we can guess what it is.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m old-school French niche, and indeed, I was made by what might be one of the few true niche brands left on earth. I changed my name to make it a more obvious reflection on my stated theme, and I also changed my packaging — but it would not be like me to pander to the superficial concerns of bottle hounds…

Friday scent of the day 8/10

Posted by Robin on 10 August 2018 519 Comments

Happy International Biodiesel Day, and whaddya know, Antonio Banderas turns 60 (oops, make that 58!! My sincere apologies to Mr. Banderas) today! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Atelier Cologne, Acqua di Parma or Amouage, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter A.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Atelier Cologne Iris Rebelle, which isn’t really as pretty as the picture.

Reminder: 8/17 will be Guessing Game Friday, edition 2…
