Friday scent of the day 6/14

Posted by Robin on 14 June 2019 229 Comments

Friday, plus Flag Day and World Blood Donor Day. Our community project for today is the picture challenge, edition 4, part 2 (you can find part 1 here). Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Georgia O’Keeffe’s Blue and Green Music, shown above right. You can find snippets about this painting here and here.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I focused on color and movement, and ended up in Sarah Jessica Parker Covet. The crazy top notes mimic the movement that starts in the lower left hand corner of the painting and the dry down progresses to cover something like the detail in the whole of the lower left hand quadrant, as shown above left…

PSA: the freebiemeet is tomorrow!

Meanwhile, it’s finally Friday and it’s finally Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Ineke, Imaginary Authors, il Profumo or i Profumi di Firenze, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter I, and triple bonus points if you wear a qualifying fragrance while eating chocolate ice cream.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Imaginary Authors Mosaic. I rarely hear it mentioned here, and I suspect we are a small fan club…

Friday scent of the day 5/31

It’s Friday and Walt Whitman’s birthday. It’s also World No Tobacco Day, and our community project for today is to compensate by wearing something smoky (it doesn’t have to smell like tobacco in particular).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m doing full-on smoky tobacco, but lightly, with a tiny, out-of-season dab of Kerosene Broken Theories…

Friday scent of the day 5/24

It’s Friday, and Robert Allen Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan is 78 today. Our community project for today: match a fragrance to a Bob Dylan song, OR, tell us who YOUR favorite musical artist is and match a fragrance to one of his/her/their songs.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I am wearing a little dab of Frédéric Malle Le Parfum de Thérèse for Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands from Blonde on Blonde, 1966. (It is number 27 on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 best Bob Dylan songs. Further reading: How Dylan’s ‘Blonde On Blonde’ created the modern album at Big Mouth Mag, Bob Dylan ‘Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands’ at Sound on Sound…)

It’s Cheap Thrills Friday! Our community project today (brought back by request): wear something that costs $50 or below, double bonus points if it costs $25 or below. No points for wearing something expensive that you bought cheaply via a sample or decant or somesuch! We’re trying to find real bargains here.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in the lovely Aftelier Ancient Resins body oil and hair elixir, developed for the late great Leonard Cohen, and coming in just at the wire at $50. I included it in my 11 Cheap Perfumes Beauty Outsiders Love…
