Friday scent of the day 10/16

Posted by Robin on 16 October 2020 361 Comments

It’s Back to the Beginning Friday! Our community project for today: revisit a fragrance you tried in your early days as a perfumista. Thanks go to springpansy for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Olivia Giacobetti’s Passage d’Enfer for L’Artisan Parfumeur. It was in a very early sample order, and was my first purchase from the brand.

Reminder: on 10/23, wear a floriental, if you have one….

Happy Beatlemania Friday / John Lennon’s birthday! Our community project for today: name your favorite Beatles or John Lennon song, and wear the perfume to match.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

It’s not really my favorite Beatles song, but I’m Only Sleeping is the perfect pandemic song, and I’m pairing it with Aftelier Ancient Resins…

It’s Friday and the International Day of Non-Violence, but we’re on the back roads by the rivers of my memory… Our community project for today: do what you like with the lyric from the 1968 song Gentle on My Mind. Thanks go to Mossyberry for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze, really just because the name seemed a good fit. I’m not sure I deserve any huge number of points but I do smell good…

Friday scent of the day 9/25

Happy Friday and happy National Comic Book Day! (And a few selected birthdays: William Faulkner, Donald Glover, Glenn Gould, Pedro Almodóvar, plus a quick PSA: the freebiemeet starts tomorrow.) Our community project for today: name a favorite comic book character, and wear the fragrance that suits him or her.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I have a feeling that real comic book people do not include comic strips as “comic books”, even if the strips have been collected in books. I’m going with Calvin and Hobbes anyway. I did not pay any attention to the strip during the ten years Bill Watterson was writing it (1985-1995), but once my son learned to read it was one of his favorites, and then I started to read it too, and even now I can pick up one of the books and lose track of time for the next hour or so. So I’m scenting Calvin, who would not wear cologne in a million years, but he probably has that little boy dirt smell. Demeter Dirt would be perfect but if I have any I can’t find it, and CB I Hate Perfume Black March is too sad, so I’m in (a precious tiny drop of) CB I Hate Perfume On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. It’s not quite right but I do smell awfully good…

Happy Soft Spot Friday! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that you may or may not wear often, and may or may not really love, but that remains dear to you for some other reason. Thanks go to Kanuka for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I am in Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu, which I prize past its worth because it reminds me of Southern California beaches. It is making me especially wistful this morning because it is unusually chilly in my house for a mid-September day…
