Friday scent of the day 8/22

Posted by Robin on 22 August 2025 228 Comments

It’s Friday and National Eat A Peach Day! Plus, the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief. Musical birthdays: John Lee Hooker, Claude Debussy, Tori Amos. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with ylang ylang, if you have one. Thanks to Kanuka for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in my DIY sweet orange + ylang ylang lotion again, this time layered with Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola.

Reminder: 8/29 will be Desert Island Friday…

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m still out of town, and still green-free in my usual DIY lotion with sweet orange and ylang oils…

Happy Friday and happy National Happiness Happens Day! It’s also International Cat Day, plus a couple birthdays: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Benny Carter. Our community project for today: wear what you want, and if you can think of any recent moment of joy or anything that made you happy in the past week, share it with us!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Yesterday was not an exciting day, but it was not crazy hot and I did finally trim the bush that was blocking the light from my dining room window, then I went to a perfect yoga class, then I came home and watched the final episode of the latest season of The Great American Baking Show. For quiet happiness, I’m in Astier de Villatte Grand Chalet…

Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Happy Friday, and welcome to August, aka Peach Month and National Sandwich Month. Birthdays today: Herman Melville, Yves Saint Laurent, Jerry Garcia. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Hermès Osmanthe Yunnan. That ought to do the trick even though I forgot my rabbits this morning, again…

It’s Friday and National Hot Fudge Sundae Day. Birthdays: Josephine Tey, Elias Canetti, Johnny Hodges, Iman.  RIP Chuck Mangione. Our community project for today is Mystery & Crime…honor Josephine Tey’s birthday by interpreting the theme any way you like…you can scent your favorite fictional detective (or villain); you can wear something that brings to mind a favorite mystery novel, film or genre; or maybe your perfume name contains a reference to a crime, a criminal, or a crime fighter. Thanks go to Glannys for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I gave up on scenting Wallander, Nero Wolfe and Jackson Brodie, and went for the Inspector Montalbano television series instead. Thierry Mugler Cologne would be perfect for Salvo Montalbano (even if he’d be more likely to be in something Italian)…
