Friday scent of the day 6/18

Posted by Robin on 18 June 2021 247 Comments

Happy Bottle Porn Friday (edition 3)! Our community project for today: wear something you bought in part or in full because of the bottle, or a fragrance you think has a beautiful (or otherwise perfect) bottle. Thanks to michael and happy888cat, who suggested we repeat this project (we already did it in 2015 and 2017).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Annick Goutal Mandragore, in the original purple gadroon bottle. I always thought that everything about the bottle — the color, the shape, the label hanging from a ribbon — was perfect for the scent, and I do appreciate the scent much more now than I did when I reviewed it in 2005. The men’s packaging with the gold pattern on the bottle was even better, but I own the women’s because that’s what I found at discount. I do not love the newer Goutal packaging, not that it matters since they don’t make Mandragore these days (other than Mandragore Pourpre)…

Happy Friday and happy King Kamehameha I Day! Our community project for today: wear a tropical or beachy floral. Bonus points if your fragrance includes at least one floral or fruit note native to Hawaii. (Native in modern times, that is, given that many of the flowers and fruits we associate with Hawaii were brought from elsewhere.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in L’Artisan Parfumeur Ananas Fizz. It would work for next week’s project too, since the limited edition bottle with the pineapple cap was definitely a factor in my purchase. (There is a nice shot of it on flickr; here…)

Friday scent of the day 6/4

It’s ‘With A Little Help from My Friends’ Friday! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that you received from someone else, either here at Now Smell This or elsewhere, or that you never would have tried if someone else hadn’t recommended it, or worn it, or reviewed it. Thanks go to Jalapeno for the idea!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m thumbing my nose at the rain in Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers, yet another generous gift from a reader…

It’s Summer Vacation Friday! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that reminds you of a favorite vacation, that fits an upcoming vacation, or that would work for a vacation you wish you could take. (If it’s winter where you are, adjust accordingly.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with a scent that would fit the images of camping in the American West that I’ve posted for the last few days: Ineke Idyllwild. (I am not really a camper, but I do love road trips out West…)

It’s Friday and World Meditation Day. Our community project for today: wear whatever you think fits the theme.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Aftelier Candide because a) it is one of the few fragrances I have with me at the beach, and b) it isn’t calming, but it does put me in the right frame of mind for Loving-Kindness meditation…
