Friday scent of the day 2/25

Posted by Robin on 25 February 2022 193 Comments

Happy Friday! It’s also George Harrison’s birthday. Our community project for today: tell us a favorite George Harrison or Beatles song and wear the fragrance that matches the song. (Adapted from a suggestion by Old Herbaceous. We did a similar project for John Lennon in 2020.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Aftelier Ancient Resins for Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) from the 1973 album Living in the Material World…

It’s Friday (also, Drink Wine Day, Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, plus a bunch of birthdays: John Travolta, Yoko Ono, Paco Rabanne, Toni Morrison, Louis Comfort Tiffany). Our community project for today: testing, testing, 1 2 3…wear a perfume (or more than one) that you have never worn before, and tell us about it. (This is almost certainly a repeat.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’ve been saving my sample of Arielle Shoshana Friday for today, so points for me. It’s pretty much exactly as described, thus it’s the perfect antidote to the howling winds outside (we have already lost power once this morning)…

Friday scent of the day 2/11

Happy Duet Friday! Our community project for today: wear two perfumes, one on each wrist or arm. You can choose two that seem made for each other, that bring out something special in each other, or that compete for the spotlight? (Suggested by Kanuka, who listed as inspiration Lakme’s flower duet, Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood singing Jackson, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett crooning softly in your ear, Billy Idol and Miley Cyrus belting out Rebel Yell.)

What fragrance(s) did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’ve separated my favorite layering combo, so I’ve got Hermès Eau des Merveilles on one arm and Eau Claire des Merveilles on the other…

Friday scent of the day 2/4

It’s Friday and Rosa Parks Day, and we are finally past the midpoint of winter. Our community project for today: welcome the Year of Tiger by wearing a fragrance that projects or inspires power, bravery, self-confidence and ambition.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I considered all sorts of heavy hitters for today, from Piguet Bandit to Yves Saint Laurent M7 (not that I have any left), but in the end I went with a fragrance that makes me feel like I could do anything: Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers. I will settle for partial credit, and I smell fantastic…

Friday scent of the day 1/28

It’s Friday, International Lego Day, Data Privacy Day, and Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette’s birthday. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance to mark Colette’s birthday. (You could wear a fragrance inspired by Colette or one of her characters? scent a character? scent Leslie Caron in the movie Gigi? Or wear Guerlain Jicky, which Colette is said to have worn.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in vintage Robert Piguet Fracas…
