Friday scent of the day 7/8

Posted by Robin on 8 July 2022 232 Comments

It’s Friday, plus Math 2.0 Day and Billy Eckstine’s birthday. Also, Kevin Bacon is 64. Our community project for today: we’re doing a variation on six degrees of separation. In place of film, you can use perfumer and/or brand, and we’re starting with Chanel No. 5. Can you get to the fragrance you want to wear without going more than six steps from Chanel No. 5?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I am 6 steps from Chanel No. 5: Boy Chanel (by Olivier Polge) -> The Beat by Burberry Elixir Parfum (Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet) -> Boucheron Miss Boucheron (Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion; I probably have some somewhere, but I am not going to wear it) -> L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons by Anne Flipo -> L’Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau de L’Artisan by Olivia Giacobetti -> Diptyque Philosykos by Olivia Giacobetti…

Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It’s July, and Canada Day. Also, International Reggae Day, National Gingersnap Day and International Joke Day. Birthdays: George Sand, Estée Lauder, Debbie Harry, Princess Diana. Our community project for today: pick an occasion (it doesn’t have to be listed here!) and a fragrance to match, and tell us about it.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

As luck would have it, I’m at the beach on Estée Lauder’s birthday. I’m in Bronze Goddess Whipped Body Creme…

Friday scent of the day 6/24

Happy Friday and happy Midsummer 2022! (The solstice was on the 21st, but traditional Midsummer, in some countries, anyway, is celebrated today). Our community project for today: wear what you’d wear to dance around a Maypole or light a bonfire on the beach, or whatever you think fits.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

We did not make it to Montreal again (boo hiss to Air Canada!!) but after five wasted hours in the airport, we repacked and reoriented and got on the road: we’re now at the beach. I’m commando because I remembered to add a bathing suit to my luggage, but perfume did not even cross my mind. It looks like we will have good weather this weekend, and some day, maybe, I will make it to Canada…

Friday scent of the day 6/17

It’s William Shakespeare Friday! (Also, the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that matches a favorite line from a Shakespeare sonnet or play, or do something else creative with the theme. Thanks go to allo for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers for the scene in Much Ado About Nothing in which Beatrice says that Count Claudio is “…is neither sad, nor sick, nor merry, nor well; but civil // count, civil as an orange, and something of that jealous complexion” (the pun refers to the bitter Seville orange)…

Happy Friday and happy National Iced Tea Day! (Also, bunch of birthdays: Gustave Courbet, Hattie McDaniel, Howlin’ Wolf, Saul Bellow, Prince Philip, Judy Garland, Maurice Sendak, E. O. Wilson.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a tea note (a repeat of the Tea Time Friday in 2015, by request from AnnE).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in L’Artisan Thé Pour Un Éte, from my very old bottle (the first few minutes are a bit janky but then it’s fine)…
