Friday scent of the day 10/21

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2022 169 Comments

It’s Friday, and it’s Ursula LeGuin’s birthday. Our community project for today: choose a work of speculative fiction or a character from such a work, and wear the fragrance that you think fits. Your chosen work can be written, audio or visual. Bonus points if you choose a work of LeGuin’s or one of the shortlisted works for the inaugural Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

For the episode of The Good Place where the characters find out that the Good Place smells like whatever makes you happy (season 3 episode 10), I’m wearing Aftelier Candide…

Friday scent of the day 10/14

Posted by Robin on 14 October 2022 209 Comments

Happy Indie / Nouveau Niche Friday! Our community project for today:  wear a fragrance from an indie / niche brand. Extra points if it was launched after the last time we did this project in 2019. Hat tip to hajusuuri for the idea!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Mimosa Gold by Exaltatum. As near as I can tell, it was released at the end of 2019, after we’d last done this project in August…

Friday scent of the day 10/7

It’s Friday and Jacques Guerlain’s birthday. Our community project for today: wear a Guerlain fragrance if you have one. Extra points if it was created by Jacques Guerlain, quintuple bonus points for wearing a week of Guerlain representing five different Guerlain perfumers. Adapted from a suggestion by Oakland Fresca.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in the Jacques Guerlain masterpiece, Après L’Ondée…

Friday scent of the day 9/30

Posted by Robin on 30 September 2022 158 Comments

It’s Friday and the last day of October September, oops. (Don’t forget your rabbits tomorrow, and Donatella will be dropping by on Monday, so start adding up those receipts). Our community project for today is It’s difficult, part 2…wear a fragrance that you (or someone around you?) finds difficult, for whatever reason. Suggested by Pixel, Kanuka and JB.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I cannot remember the last time I overslept this badly, so apologies, and I am not up to wearing anything difficult either. (I had the shingles vaccine yesterday afternoon.) I’m commando at the moment and will probably put on something simple and comforting later. No points for me…

Friday scent of the day 9/23

Happy Friday! Our community project for today is ‘You Say It’s Your Birthday’…pick a song related to a musical birthday today (John Lomax, Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Julio Iglesias, Bruce Springsteen, Ani DiFranco, or find another!) and wear a fragrance to match.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Jean Couturier Coriandre, released the same year as the Bruce Springsteen song Rosalita (Come Out Tonight), from the album The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle…
