Friday scent of the day 1/6

Posted by Robin on 6 January 2023 216 Comments

It’s the first Friday of 2023, plus Three Kings Day. RIP Fay Weldon. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance to match Viva Magenta, Pantone’s color of the year for 2023.

Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative. [It] is powerful and empowering. It is a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m taking points for the cherry cough syrup + raspberry macaron in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto…

Posted by Robin on 30 December 2022 217 Comments

It’s the last Friday of 2022! It’s also National Bacon Day, the sixth day of Christmas (geese a-laying) and the fifth day of Kwanzaa (Nia: purpose). Birthdays: Rudyard Kipling, Paul Bowles, Bo Diddley and Patti Smith. RIP Pelé and Vivienne Westwood. Our community project for today is Best of 2022…wear your favorite new release of the year, or your favorite purchase of the year, or the fragrance you wore the most in 2022, or interpret this project however you like.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I bought very little this year and I tried even fewer new perfumes. I’m wearing Diptyque Philosykos, which I’m sure is my most-worn for the year…

It’s Friday and Jane Austen’s birthday. Our community project for today: name a favorite Jane Austen novel (or movie, or television series) and wear a fragrance to match, or, wear a fragrance to register your general lack of interest in Austenmania.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Carven L’Eau de Toilette for Elizabeth Bennet, in Jane Austen’s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice…

It’s Friday, plus National Pastry Day and International Anti-Corruption Day. Birthdays: Joseph Pilates, Redd Foxx, Judi Dench. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a leather or suede note, if you have one. (This is a repeat from 2016.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m doing leather-lite, in Hermès Cuir d’Ange…

It’s Friday, National Fritters Day and the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. Happy Birthday to Britney Spears! Our community project for today is Ancient Resins…wear a fragrance with a significant resin component, or one inspired by ancient history. Thank you Desirae for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Me: I feel almost vaguely human but I’m still pretty sick considering I’m on day 7 (WaPo: So far, this flu season is more severe than it has been in 13 years). So far I have zero interest in wearing fragrance…
