Friday scent of the day 4/21

Posted by Robin on 21 April 2023 223 Comments

It’s Friday, World Creativity and Innovation Day, and if you’re in the UK, it’s National Tea Day. Birthdays: Charlotte Brontë, Elizabeth II, Iggy Pop.  Our community project for today: wear a spring floral, or any fragrance that makes you think of spring.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Me: day two in L’Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois…

Friday scent of the day 4/14

Posted by Robin on 14 April 2023 223 Comments

Happy Friday and happy Pan American Day! (Also, National Dolphin Day and Loretta Lynn’s birthday.) Our community project for today: wear a perfume named for a place in North or South America, with bonus points for places that aren’t New York City.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

It is too warm here for Tauer Lonestar Memories (and I could not find my Atelier Cologne Clémentine California or J Lo Miami Glow), but thanks to a last minute burst of inspiration, I’m taking bonus points in Ineke Idyllwild. (In case it helps anyone, I almost went with Strange Invisible Perfumes Magazine Street; I’m all out of Florida Water or that would have been another contender.) Apologies for again picking what turned out to be a difficult project. Next week is easy peasy…

Happy Friday and happy National No Housework Day! It’s also the 75th World Health Day (the theme for 2023: “health for all”). Our community project for today: for Billie Holiday’s birthday, wear gardenia, or wear one of her favorite perfumes (Coty Emeraude and Bourjois Evening in Paris) or wear a fragrance inspired by her (Serge Lutens Une Voix Noire, Maria Candida Gentile Lady Day, Strange Invisible Perfumes Lady Day, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Don’t Explain, to name a few).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Points for me in Maria Candida Gentile Lady Day…

Happy Friday and happy Eiffel Tower Day! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that says Paris to you, or that has Paris in the name, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

Reportedly the most popular perfume in France is Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, but I’m going with Guerlain Jicky (copying PriscillaE on Monday)…

Friday scent of the day 3/24

Happy Friday! It’s also National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day, plus the International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims. Here we’re celebrating William Morris’ birthday. Our community project for today: do whatever you like with the William Morris theme…match a textile or wallpaper or La Belle Iseult, or choose any motif (wear strawberry for Strawberry Thief, for instance)? Or take inspiration from his London house or garden, now under the care of the National Trust? Links: William Morris: A Lifelong Fascination with Flowers at Dovecot, Introducing William Morris at V&A, the William Morris website.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with Fruit wallpaper, and to match I’m in Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir, which I have not worn in eons, and which is not so noir as to clash with the sunny design. The original colorways were duskier anyway…
