Friday scent of the day 7/7

Posted by Robin on 7 July 2023 189 Comments

Happy Friday and happy World Chocolate Day! Our community project for today: wear a perfume with a chocolate note, with bonus credit if chocolate (or something related to chocolate) is in the name. If you don’t have a perfume with a chocolate note, partial credit for wearing something with a note you like to eat with chocolate.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Sarah Jessica Parker Covet. (And a little PSA: it’s been a busy week and I am terribly behind. I have not even read Wednesday’s damage poll yet. I hope to catch up by Sunday…)

Friday scent of the day 6/30

Posted by Robin on 30 June 2023 200 Comments

It’s Friday and the last day of June. (Don’t forget to rabbit tomorrow.) Also, Asteroid Day and Lena Horne’s birthday. Our community project for today: we’re off to Germany. Wear a perfume by a German brand (Escada? Hugo Boss? Jil Sander? Mäurer & Wirtz / 4711?) or named for a place in Germany, or that you bought in Germany, or whatever you can think of to fit the theme. Suggested by ockeghem and voted for by carole and chocolatemarzipan8.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in Ormonde Jayne Champaca…

Friday scent of the day 6/23

It’s Friday, plus United Nations Public Service Day. (Plus, a few birthdays: Alan Turing, June Carter Cash, Frances McDormand.) It’s also National Let It Go Day. Our community project for today: wear a perfume that works in the way the day is intended…that is, that helps you let go of negative feelings from the past. OR, wear a perfume you’ve been hoarding, OR, thunk (use up) a bottle or sample, OR, come up with some other creative take on the theme of letting go.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m giving myself bonus points. On one arm, I’m wearing Gobin-Daudé Sous Le Buis, a perfume I adored, waited to buy at half price when the brand went out of business, then hoarded too long: it really does not smell so great anymore and I am throwing it out right now. On the other arm I’ve got Gobin-Daudé Sève Exquise, which is no longer in pristine condition but it does still smell lovely after it settles…I need to stop “saving it” and wear it more often…

Happy Friday and happy Bloomsday! Birthdays today: Geronimo, Adam Smith. Our community project for today is Close to Home…wear a perfume that comes from a local maker, or has your location in its name or backstory, or maybe uses a ingredient/ plant that is native to your area, or interpret this howsoever you like. Thanks go to Kanuka for the suggestion!

I’m in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Kaleidoscope for the many years that my husband kept a large vegetable garden out back…

Happy Friday! It’s also Coral Triangle Day. Birthdays: Cole Porter, Jackie Wilson, Michael J Fox. Here, we’re celebrating Adjectives Friday. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with an adjective in the name. Bonus points if the adjective is apt! Thanks go to pyramus for the suggestion.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m copying PriscillaE’s Tuesday choice in Parfum d’Empire Corsica Furiosa…
