Friday scent of the day 12/1

Posted by Robin on 1 December 2023 289 Comments

Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Welcome to December. It’s also World AIDS Day and Rosa Parks Day. Birthdays: Rex Stout, Bette Midler, Richard Pryor. Our community project: wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, joy or good luck for the month.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m aiming for a month of comfort, in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Butterbeer…

Friday scent of the day 11/24

Posted by Robin on 24 November 2023 204 Comments

It’s Black Friday! (Also, Evolution Day.) Our community project for today: pick your Black Friday poison…wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it’s too expensive. (We’ve done this project several times.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in the last fragrance I bought, Tauer Perfumes Golestan. (It is possible I will make it to January without having bought any perfume at all in 2023…)

Friday scent of the day 11/17

Posted by Robin on 17 November 2023 210 Comments

Happy Gratitude Friday! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that you feel grateful for coming into your life, that arrived at the right time, helped you face a difficult situation, or simply enriches your day when you wear it. Gratitude to Kanuka for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

It is true that if I had to escape and could only grab one perfume, it’d be Diorissimo, but if it was only one brand, it would surely be Hermès. Props to Hermès for (a) hiring perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, whose work I was already following avidly when he was made house perfumer back in 2004, and (b) putting out all his work in (cute!) 15 ml bottles at a not-insane price. This morning I am grateful for Eau de Néroli Doré, which makes me smile every time I wear it, and is just right for the high of 65 we’re expecting here today…

Friday scent of the day 11/10

Posted by Robin on 10 November 2023 239 Comments

It’s Friday, Sesame Street Day and the World Science Day for Peace and Development. It’s also Neil Gaiman’s birthday, and that’s our Friday theme. Our community project for today: if you read (or watched) Good Omens, maybe scent Aziraphale or Crowley? Or scent some other favorite Gaiman work, or just wear a fragrance that you think fits any fantasy, science fiction or graphic novel or movie/show of your choice (it doesn’t have to be by Gaiman).

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I remembered yesterday that I already scented Crowley last year, so today I’m doing Aziraphale. Caron Pour un Homme would be perfect but I can’t find any, so I’m in Prada Amber Pour Homme, which is close enough for my purposes…

Friday scent of the day 11/3

It’s Friday, plus National Sandwich Day and World Jellyfish Day. Birthdays: Walker Evans, Anna Wintour. We’re off to Japan for Culture Day…our community project: wear a perfume that is named for a place in Japan, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Japan, or that features a Japanese ingredient, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I went with Monocle + Comme des Garçons Scent One: Hinoki…
