Friday scent of the day 3/15

Posted by Robin on 15 March 2024 183 Comments

Happy (Vanilla) Friday! It’s also the Ides of March and World Consumer Rights Day, and there are 4 days of winter left to go. Our community project for today: wear your bestest vanilla for spring (or fall, if you’re in the southern hemisphere.) (This is a repeat from 2018, when we did it in January.)

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m commando at the moment for an appointment, but before the day is out I’ll be in Aedes de Venustas Cierge de Lune (from 5 perfumes ~ vanilla fragrances for spring)…

Happy Friday and happy International Women’s Day! The theme for 2024: Inspire Inclusion (“When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world”). Our community project for today: do what you like for Women’s Day…wear a perfume in honor of a woman who is important in your life or an important female historical figure, or wear a perfume by a female perfumer, or ? Thanks to Kanuka for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m still on vacation and still commando…zero points for me this week! I’ll do better next week…

Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Welcome to March. It’s also Zero Discrimination Day. Birthdays: Frédéric Chopin, Lytton Strachey, Glenn Miller, Ralph Ellison, Robert Lowell, Harry Belafonte, Roger Daltrey. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m in the same thing I wore last year on 3/1: L’Artisan Jacinthe des Bois…

Friday scent of the day 2/23

Posted by Robin on 23 February 2024 169 Comments

It’s Friday and National Banana Bread Day! Birthdays: Samuel Pepys, W. E. B. Du Bois. Our community project for today: we’re off to New Zealand! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in New Zealand, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to New Zealand, or that features a local ingredient, or ?

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

The readers of Rough Guides voted New Zealand the most beautiful country in the world in 2023 (although it came in second to Indonesia in 2022 by the UK’s Money). All the gorgeous greenery and water made me thing of Diptyque’s L’Ombre dans L’Eau, so that’s my pick, and it’s just a shame I can’t wear it on the banks of the Manawatu River. (And yes, I did blow some time this week looking at real estate listings…)

Happy Friday and happy National Almond Day! (Birthdays: Henry Adams, Richard Ford, plus happy 67th to LeVar Burton!) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with almond.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I’m taking points for the bitter almond in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto…
